Who: Harry Dresden, Billy Kaplan, Phibrizzo and Merlin When: Afternoon of Sunday the 6th Summary: Harry starts teaching magic to two students that have the potential to be a lot more powerful than him. Warnings: None that I know of.
Yes, he could teleport pretty much wherever he wanted to, but that took the fun out of things sometimes. So Billy decided to just use his legs and walk to the park where Harry Dresden told him to go to for a training session.
Meandering his way over, Billy couldn't deny he was a little bit nervous. He'd never really had a chance to have anyone with magic teach him much back home. Mostly it'd been him just trying to figure things out as he went. He wasn't sure exactly what he could do, what his limit was, but hopefully being given some guidance would help him to gain better control over things. He definitely did not want a repeat of blanking out and losing control again.
Spotting Harry, Billy approached as he lifted a hand in greeting.
In the end, Phibrizzo had decided to show up. He was curious as to what the others would be capable of, and he had told Charles Xavier that he would try to work with Billy when they had the chance to meet. It would seem odd to put off an opportunity to meet another magic user, particularly when Harry had so generously extended the invitation in the first place. Phibrizzo wanted to stay on Charles' good side. It was incredibly rare for someone to be able to perceive his astral form (even amongst his own kind), and he wanted the opportunity to ask him about it later.
Besides, it wasn't like he was attending school. The library was useful, and thanks to Gohan, he was considering exploring the university library.
He flew to the training location, set in the park. It would be interesting to see how the powers of mages from different worlds fared, and he was curious as to how powerful they were as well.
Merlin arrived last, a face for which he was grateful-- it meant no one else viewed his surprise at seeing another person aside from Harry in the park. For a moment, old instincts kicked in, and he froze, wondering if he should run, flee, hide, deny he had magic, pretend he'd never met Harry--
--but no, he thought, and forced himself to keep walking. This was a new time and a new place, where warlocks practiced in the open and he was welcome. He didn't have to hide anymore.
"Hi," he greeted the other two men, and then ducked in surprise as someone flew over his head. Staring up at the younger boy, he hesitated for a moment before grinning widely, still awed by such public displays of magic.
Harry was glad that they all arrived about the same time and even on time. He was pretty sure that a more ragtag and odd group of wizards had never been assembled, especially seeing as how none of them sported even a beard or a hint of gray hair. The lack of pointy hats and wands also seemed to complete the fact that they looked nothing like their stereotype suggested they would.
"I'm glad you all could make it," Harry said, nodding to each of them in turn. "I volunteered to help each of you and I figured it would be nice to have you all meet since I don't have unlimited time and more often than not I'd like to try and combine training sessions when possible. Billy, Merlin, Phibrizzo..."
He pointed to each of them in turn as he said their name.
"Meet Billy, Merlin, and Phibrizzo. Ahh, please don't shake hands though. Physical contact is probably safe, but just for the moment lets not risk blowing ourselves up until we learn the really cool spells that risk that."
