Today, however, he decided a real visit was in order. Complete with actually letting the hospital staff know he was there and everything! He slowly opened the door, a bag in his arms and a much more solemn smile on his lips than was usual for the typically laid-back angel. Noticing that Ciel appeared to be resting, his voice was quiet.
"Hello, Alois."

"Hello."
It was as simple as that.

"Hope you got cute nurses, at least... I brought something for you."

Glancing at the clock, he hesitated a moment-- he didn't have much time before work-- before sitting down next to the bed. This was either going to work or it wasn't, but he'd feel like crap if he didn't try.
"Hey, kid," he greeted, smiling at him. "How many painkillers they got you hooked up on?"

It was nice not to be able to feel much.
When he heard himself be addressed, it startled him mildly, a few dizzy blinks before he focused on Jack's face. What had been the question...?
Oh. Yes.
"A blend of some sort...something that drips in here and pills I have to take every twelve hours."

"Least they's workin', though," he ventured vaguely, and bit his thumbnail as he studied the kid. "You're one o' the lucky ones, y'know. You should see some of the bastards I brin' in every night on the ambulance, their faces all beat up-- least you still don't look half bad."

"I hope that's not carbonated," he said, slurring.

This was one of the 'fading in' times, and his eyes opened halfway to stare at white. White, what was white? Was that an angel wing? His head swam - Christ, it might as well have been doing a constant doggy-paddle - and he blinked very slowly. No feathers. It was Ciel's hospital gown.
His fingers were loosely atop the other boy's; he hadn't been able to hold on very well in his sleep. And oh, he wished he could shift closer, and oh, he wished he could kiss Ciel for being alive, but he was sore and sedated, and so he rested there, breathing quietly, wondering whether Ciel was awake himself.

He was tired and aching and a little bit thirsty too.
"Nn..."

"Ciel?" he finally slurred, and shifted just a tiny bit. If Ciel was asleep- well. At least they were pressed together. But this was a surprisingly lonely feeling and Alois wanted the safety of voices aside from his own.
