The rather brutal murder had sobered him up quickly the night before, sending him running home to do a head count, but the fact was, Erik wasn't ready to face Charles.

He wasn't ashamed of what had happened, he was shocked however and didn't really know what to do about it. It made a complicated relationship all the more complicated and he just didn't know what to do.

Adding in to running into a formerly dead man who could absorb powers...

To hell with it, he needed a drink or several, and ducked into an anonymous bar. He was surprised to someone...something...he though he recognized, surrounded by glasses and stepped closer to investigate.

Germany took another long drink, downing a fair amount. Though he was used to the bustling pubs back home, he was always one to notice when someone got a bit too close to him. Vaguely tipsy or not, Germany was very much aware of his personal space.

He glanced round, still protectively gripping his drink. It took a good moment, but finally recognition flickered across his features.

"Oh," He turned back to his drink, sounding rather vacant, "Hallo."

"Hallo." Ah, Germany. Erik didn't look his normal polished self - black shirt and pants, hair dishevelled, in need of a shave, and possibly a bit hungover as well.

The hell with it. At least he SHOULD be able to match Erik drink for drink without falling off the barstool. "Seat taken?" He gestured to the empty stool next to the man.

Germany is in no state to note and disapprove of the other man's disheveled appearance. Much to his future shame, he was in a similar state, but it didn't really seem to matter at that moment.

Germany shakes his head, strands of hair he normally keeps neatly slicked back falling over his forehead. He attempts to brush them back as he speaks, "Nein. Go ahead."

Had Shizuo been sober in any sense of the word, he probably wouldn't have ever thought to bother one of the other patrons of the bar. But he did happen to be drunk. He enjoyed the feeling of it from time to time, especially if he needed to get his mind off of something. While he'd already started his new job, he still felt guilty for the incident that had happened on his birthday, and his home wasn't feeling too welcoming at the moment if only because Minako was there and he wasn't certain of how to face her ( ... )

The nation didn't pay the other man much attention at first, he was much more interested in reaching the bottom of his bottle. However, Germany was a man who valued his solitude even when he was intoxicated and wallowing in self-pity.

But the staring was beginning to unsettle him. Germany set down his drink. He turned to meet the other man's gaze, looking right back at him for a moment before saying anything. "...what?"

Shizuo's first instinct was to get angry. He'd sensed a slight edge to the other's tone that had rubbed him the wrong way. Like he was somehow breaking the law by sitting here, when he wasn't. However, when he was drunk it was that much harder to actually get his blood to boil, to work himself up to attacking someone. Most people got more violent when inebriated, but with Shizuo it was the opposite. He just felt lethargic, though in a drowsy, almost pleasant way.

"Nothing," he said with a shake of his head, his words sticking in his mouth as his tongue struggled to move properly. He wasn't even speaking Japanese, which he still didn't get. "I'm allowed to sit here, aren't I?" He took another sip of his current drink (which was a bright shade of blue) and shrugged his shoulders.

The nation studied the other man for a moment. He seemed drunker than Germany himself was at the moment, by the labored way he seemed to speak.

"If you want to," He said, raising an eyebrow. Germany returned his shrug, going back to his own drink. If he wasn't going to start anything, he could sit there all he pleased. All Germany really cared about was reaching that pleasant and detached stage stage in drunkenness where nothing really seemed to matter.
