[ A voice from above echoes down ]

Simply marvelous. Bra-vo! I've never seen anything liiiiiiiike it!

[ There's a figure, clinging improbably to the top of a lamp post, silhouetted against the moon. A moment later, it drops down, a swirl of coattails and long hair. ]

I don't mean the monster ~killing~ of course! Anyone can do that!

But... you... EAT them! Raw! How disgusting! And how delightful, ahahahahhahaa~!

[He stops mid step when Grell's voice interrupts the silence that had fallen over the slums. Murciélago is held at the ready as Grell makes himself known. It is rare that someone manages to get that close without him sensing their spiritual energy and he's already having a bad day as it is.

Grell is hardly a welcome site. Ulquiorra's memories of their previous conversations is lacking at best. Trash and annoying are words that instantly come to mind as their eyes meet. He'd probably regret later not stepping into soindo and leaving while he could.]

As horrible as they look and taste, they do provide nourishment.

[There was nothing delightful about it, at least not with the dry and emotionless tone that he spoke with.]

Nourishment, hmmmmm~?

But it's not just the flesh you're eating, ahahahaha...

[ Grell sees what you did there! ]

OOooOOOoooh~! You're more than just a pretty face....

[ A conspiratorial stage whisper ]

You're a demon!

[The flat look of his face matches the flat tone of his voice. The only thing Grell is right about is the fact that he's not just the flesh of the creature he's consuming.]

Tch'. Do not associate me with trash like that.

Szayel was standing just down the street, out of immediate sight, though he could still see the gruesome sight. He waited until Ulquiorra passed him, before he let out a tired sigh.

"Getting out your frustrations, Cuarto?" he asked mildly. "I would not have pegged you for one to lament the loss of 'trash'."

"You should not have left Nueva Las Noches, Szayel Aporro." Ulquiorra's tone was one of warning as he came to a stop in the middle of street just ahead of the other Espada. Shortly after the discovery of Ichigo and Shiro's disappearance he left Nelliel to take watch over their shared home and left.

"Their disappearance is unfortunate, but it does not change what is to come. All of us must be prepared." He explained, taking the chance to comment openly on Ichigo's disappearance. Ulquiorra would never openly admit to feeling anything over the entire ordeal. He was unnecessarily brutal many times over the course of his life as a hollow, especially when it came to killing things weaker than himself.

"I may be a researcher, but am not a helpless weakling, Cuarto," Szayel replied mildly. He stepped away from the building he was leaning against, starting toward him.

"I'm curious... what do you feel our chances are in this situation, knowing what you do of our future on our own world?"

"Their numbers do little next to their lack of organization. As we have seen, many of them are victims to their own agendas and they are susceptible to the same laws and scrutiny as we are. I have no reason to believe we will fail if we maintain our current course." The way Ulquiorra saw the situation what happened and was to happen back home was hardly a factor. They had already dealt the Shinigami a significant blow by having Ichigo taking their side and helping with the defense.

For the most part, Phibrizzo was taking care to avoid being seen out at night. It didn't suit the innocent child image if people saw him walking without a care amongst the monsters. Still, the negative emotions coming off this man and caused by this man were delicious, as was the violence. There was also the fact that he was decidedly not human, but Phibrizzo didn't know exactly what he was. He'd never seen anything like this pale man capable of such brutality before, in the roughly five thousand years he'd been alive. It was intriguing enough to be worth investigating.

He peeked his head out from behind a mailbox, careful to act as timid as a child caught out after dark should. "Wow, mister...you're really strong."

The Cuatra Espada had just dispatched another set of four creatures when the small child poked his head out and made his appearance known. Hunched over the small pile of dead creatures he could only stare due to Phibrizzo's response. From what he could tell, there was no fear, no anything really, that he could see or feel when it came to him ( ... )

Phibrizzo forgot to flinch when the blade was pulled out of one of the creature's bodies. He maintained relatively timid body language, but he was simply too fascinated with trying to figure out what this man was to show much emotion other than curiosity on his face.

"She's not anywhere in Siren's Port," replied Phibrizzo, following the strange man with the bone...helmet? No, if he wasn't mistaken, it was attached to his body. Being the controller of death in his own universe gave him an affinity for the dead in general. Even without seeing the man cutting the monsters as easily as if they were paper, he could sense his power. He could also sense that he was not alive in the conventional sense. Then there was his diet. Which only made the diminuitive Hellmaster want answers even more.

"My father's not around, either."

He took a few steps closer.

"Then you should seek shelter," he said as he looked back and over his shoulder. There was clearly something not right about the child, especially, when it came to his body language. He appeared afraid, however, Phibrizzo seemed to be anything but scared of his surroundings or the Espada. Fear in humans resulted in an their heart's beating faster, their skin sweating, and there was a certain smell that their souls took on. Being afraid was more than just cowering behind a mail box.

When Phibrizzo stepped closer, Ulquiorra turned and stared the small child intently in his eyes. His spiritual energy was different than a human's too, stronger, but it was the way it flowed did not match the shape in front of him.

"What are you?" His eyes narrowed as his fingers steadied on the hilt of his sword.

Minako had a lot on her mind recently and the only thing that really seemed to help was the nightly monster fighting. She sometimes ran into Heat and Shinjiro offered to go out from time to time, but it was better when she was alone. She didn't want to see distressed in front of her friends. Her music was turned up until the reverberations of the beat flowed through her body, distracting her from everything but the feel of her Persona and the monsters she encountered. Naginata in hand and Evoker at her hip, she was entirely ready.

Tonight was a little different. Ulquiorra's presence was finally felt by her and she followed it around the corner, spotting him walking towards her. She took off one of her earbuds and clipped it to her coat. "Out late, Ulquiorra?" She gave him a slight smile.

He felt Minako's spiritual energy drawing closer it was too late. Another smaller creature was already in his grasp. It's thick lower limbs had been bent backwards and in some areas it had been sliced by his sword down to it's bones. The small thing was tossed aside by the time Minako turned the corner, it was too small to make eating it worth his time.

The look on his face at her greeting was neither empty or pleased. Minako was perceptive, like Orihime, and he looks away quickly in hopes of not giving her to chance to notice that something is wrong.

"You're help is not required in this Sector tonight." He said as he continued on down the road and hoped that Minako would take his advice.

Something seemed to be bothering him, but she wasn't sure if he was aggravated or upset. Minako swung her naginata around to her side and followed him anyway, keeping an eye on their surroundings.

"I'm surprised you're out here," she said gently, turning off her player at last. She slipped the other earclip down onto her shirt. Ulquiorra normally stuck to other sections of the city, just as she did. It would be odd if he came out here for the same reason she did.

"Are you all right?"

"We have discussed this before. I come out every night and patrol in various sectors to study and feed, this past week I have been required to double my efforts." It wasn't strange for Ulquiorra to ignore the network and the city, but since their trip to the zoo he had been especially quiet and occupied. The second question was ignored as he pressed forward towards the next street in search of the next group of creatures he could hear coming closer.
