It was mostly because of Sirius' magic that Jack was being so bold. Thanks to the spells he had put on the firehouse, Yuffie technically couldn't enter without Jack letting her in; it was because of this measure he felt so safe there.
It wasn't that he didn't want to talk to his friend, per se-- but he was still so exhausted from the experience, and Jack had a bad feeling Yuffie was going to yell at him.]
