Maya was, quite honestly, on the moon. She'd made sure that Phoenix wasn't anywhere near the house before she began her preparations. Fancy shoes were out of question in this weather, but she had weathered enough training (under freezing water!) just to be able to get away with pantyhose. The dress Tamaki got her fit quite well (and she twirled a little in front of the mirror after she put it on). She didn't dare try any makeup on her own, but her hair was down and she'd made sure to brush it very carefully.

As she paused to give herself a final inspection as she heard the knock- she almost didn't recognize herself. Hair down, fancy dress instead of acolyte uniform (or even regular clothes)... just like at the ball before.. For once, she felt like a princess. Not like a little girl or Nick's sidekick or the future Master or anything. Not even just Maya. Princess Maya. And that was a nice feeling.

Excitedly, Maya bounded over to the door - snatching her coat and opening the door.

"Tamaki!"

Ah, yes! Tamaki struck a pose the moment that the door opened, holding out one hand to Maya--Princess Maya--and crooking a bow, but all without revealing the flowers just yet.

"Miss Maya! Truly, it is an honor and a pleasure to be treated to your company tonight! Ah, wait, please--" He straightened, still smiling, and took a step back. "I have these for you--" And only now did he hold out the flowers to her with a flourish, the smell of roses stirring the air. "The finest bouquet for the finest of princesses! Now, please--let me see your dress! Does it fit all right? Ah, but you look lovely--I need not have bothered with purchasing flowers at all, for you fair outshine them!"

For once, she didn't fuss about being called "Miss." Was that part of a date? He did say he wanted to be proper, and it's not like she had any idea of how this was supposed to work... Well, aside from all the stuff she'd watched on TV and such.

"Ah... Tamaki! You look really handsome! And princely!" She winced internally a second later. What a lame thing to say - and wasn't that what she always said when she saw him? But then he pulled out the flowers and... Well, she didn't really like flowers, but the smell was so nice and he was complimenting her and she could just feel her cheeks getting red.

"D-Do you think so?" She twirled around to give him a better look at it, "I told you that you're an Ace Dress Picker, Tamaki! You made such a great pick! And it fits so well!"

Well, he was good at choosing dresses, that much was true. "Ace Dress Picker"--the vernacular was adorable, and it had to mean much the same thing! "Ace", what an interesting word... Mentally, Tamaki marked it down as a word to add to his commoner's lexicon. Ace, meaning "skilled or good at".

"I don't just think so," he assured her, leaning forward to give the remark an air of carefully-crafted confidentiality, "I know so! I am only glad that I will be the one to accompany you on the the maiden voyage of this dress--to see you debut it! Truly, it is all the lovelier because you are wearing it!"

He offered his arm to her with a final smile and wink. "Now! Do not make me wait in anticipation any longer--I have a car waiting for us, and I am most eager for this evening to begin!"
