Who: Roxas and Vanitas When: Sector 3 Where: January 3, late afternoon Summary: Puppies and kittens and rainbows Warnings: Possible probable violence, Birth by Sleep spoilers
Like Ventus, like Ventus Junior, really. Vanitas almost predictably found himself in the same scenario that spurred a fight with the lighter, weaker half of himself a few weeks ago-- he had spotted a certain blond kid trekking down to wherever a few blocks back, and was taking his time moseying along after him.
Roxas was more of a spitfire than Ventus, Vanitas knew that much; however, their first encounter in the baseball diamond without any weapons or proper senses didn't really give him much more information than that. Surely Ventus Junior was more than just a familiar face-- he could pick up on that much just by stalking behind him in the shadows-- but Vanitas intended to find out if being more than a familiar face also meant being useful.
An answer he'd get once he had Ventus' Junior's attention. Vanitas stepped out into plain sight behind Roxas, wondering if he was chasing after the dumber of the two-- or if Roxas would actually notice.
It wasn't a particularly crowded street. People in Siren's Port seemed to mind the cold more than he did and hurried from heated building to heated building. That could have been the answer to why Roxas was immediately alert to the figure that fell into step behind him, but it was something stronger than that-instinct, maybe. Or just a fluke.
He kept walking for a few second more, then abruptly stopped and turned around. Vanitas. He bit back his initial reaction, forcing himself to stay as calm as possible. "What do you want?"
Surprise! Vanitas didn't answer at first, simply standing there and leering like any creepy stranger in any city might. Would he beg for change? Offer to sell Roxas some poorly made knockoff watches? After a moment, the helmet tilted in in the direction of a nearby street.
"I'm going home. Don't think so highly of yourself, Ventus Junior."
"Uh huh." Yeah, right. It didn't take much ego to be sure that Vanitas' presence was no simple coincidence. He'd already reached out to Roxas over the NV once before.
"Well, I was going to pick up some food, but I'm not sure where I want to go after all." He folded his arms across his chest. "So I'm going to wait here until I decided which direction to take. You go ahead and walk home."
