Today had to be right up there with the suckiest day of days that ever sucked. Someone finding out about her curse was a nightmare - even if he thought it was actually a result of the Core.

She'd just bought a new coat with some of her money, and was in the process of testing it out in the cold when she caught sight of the dog frolicking in the snow. She couldn't help it - she laughed at the sight. So cute.

Oho, well - far be it from Sam Merlotte to ignore the musical laugh of a pretty woman.

His tail wagging ferociously, the English Shepherd bounded over to Ella, standing on his hind legs to give a rabbit-hop in the snow. He dropped to his belly a moment later, and the excited swish-swish of his tail was like a wiper blade on the sidewalk. Pet me!

Ella always did like animals, and a friendly puppy was no exception to the rule. Grin widening, she laughed when the dog approached and demanded in his doggy way, petting.

"Aren't you sweet?" Naturally Ella had to oblige. She was weak to petting animals. Thus she knelt, cold snow and all, to give the dog belly rubs and scratches. "So cute. Who do you belong to, huh?"

He was, he was. Terribly sweet and cute, and wasn't that the perfect excuse to pet him, pretty lady? Sam was glad she agreed, rolling onto his side to let her scratch through his thick coat of fur. Human hands were made for dog-petting. It was like a scientific fact.

She was good at it, too. Sam could feel his eyes closing even as his tail kept wagging, slow and content. It didn't even matter that they were in the middle of the sidewalk.
