He was accustomed to working alongside loud characters, to put it nicely, and let Urahara burst his way inside just short of a frolic without disturbing Sosuke's serene expression. A quick flicker of reiatsu found Benihime secreted in the harmless-looking cane, prompting Sousuke one step closer to believing Urahara would attempt an attack in public. Things like dimensions and fake identities didn't matter between them. Sousuke disliked Kisuke not only on principle, but as a man who might have once acted his jailer, had Central 46 realised just how powerful Aizen-fukutaichou in fact was, and who now attempted the very same capture. In different circumstances, but even so.

He would not allow this man to revel in the capture of someone so far beyond his reach. It was an impossibility in thought, let alone act.

And he hadn't brought Kyouka Suigetsu with him.

"Aa," he agreed. Raising a hand, he gestured to the kanji for Glory, the closest to hand as he stepped away from the sink. "Nutrition. Everything has a learning curve here. To be ( ... )

There was a hell of a lot that Sousuke chose not to divulge to Urahara; his plans with Aslan, the Sharingan eyes, even his true intent where Ichigo was concerned. It was why, it could be rationalised, he was willing to talk about the Core and the Darkness so freely; they were unimportant to him, after-effects in his estimation.

Or they were simply as obvious as they seemed, and if they were the first things that he brought up then it might give the impression they were the most important. If Urahara cared to think on this encounter in detail, later.

"Time-lines are surrounding us with unfamiliar people."

It was the single-most honest thing he had offered.

"Ahh~ time-lines! Your friend might not know you, or know you better than you know yourself~!" A grin. He knew himself to be in a rather unfavourable spot in the time-line of things where Aizen was concerned. Further ahead would have been much better.

"A whole city populated with improbability."

"And possibility," he added swiftly, meeting Urahara's shadowed eyes.

He gave a small short laugh at that, returning Aizen's gaze. Kisuke did ever so like contrary things like that.

"They shouldn't be here, but while they are, take advantage~♪"

Yes, be flexible enough to take advantage of any opportunity that presents itself, however small it seems.

And a city full of people from other worlds and time-lines was not small. And what use they could be... likely varied as much as the worlds they came from.

Sousuke was entirely convinced of Gin's betrayal, so he wouldn't be able to take advantage of anything but insisting he wasn't aware, forcing his so-called lieutenant into awkward and pressured situations. But, that wasn't the crux of the conversation.

"How callous of you. You've no intention of making new friends?"

Well now. Seeing as Kisuke had acquired very few new friends over the past hundred-some-odd years (you could count them on one hand), that might well be a reasonable assessment.

But he couldn't help but feel a snare within those words. (Well, what part of this wasn't laden with landmines anyways?)

"Callous~? I wonder. I guess I don't exactly go out looking for friends." He did look for allies.
"But I wonder if friends might find me instead," he trailed off wistfully. To have Isshin or Tessai show up would be simply divine provision.
