Shunpo was a wonderful thing.

Not that Yoruichi minded at all being out in the Darkness, but it was cold tonight. She hated the cold. At least shunpo limited the amount of time that she had to spend out in disagreeable weather.

She'd had no trouble finding the place, and it seemed cozy enough. Not too upscale, not too downscale. Rather the way she preferred. The air was pleasantly warm when she entered, and she pulled the scarf away from the bottom half of her face, ran a hand through her hair to smooth out a couple of tangles. Not that she was self-conscious about her appearance, but she liked to have certain things in place.

It didn't take her long to spot her dinner companion, and she smiled. She dropped down casually into a chair across from him with a slight laugh. "Hi. Wow, I'm not used to people getting to places before I do."

Kia didn't like the cold either. Cold and ice made it difficult to bike around everywhere without completely freezing and the only reason he'd rode instead of taking the subway today was because he'd misplaced his transit pass. Knowing his luck, he'd find it tomorrow morning buried in the pair of pants he could've sworn he'd checked already.

Oh well. He'd just have to deal with it and use some of the money from this job to get warmer stuff. Canada was a lot colder than Berlin and his military jacket just didn't cut it.

He gave her an easy smile in return when she came in and say down across from him. "My work was just a couple blocks away," he explained. "And I have a motorcycle, so I don't have to deal with waiting for the subway unless it's really snowy or even colder than right now."

She shrugged. The closer distance made sense, but that other bit? Ha. "A vehicle of any kind is much slower than what I can do on foot. Haven't seen the point in slowing things down. I guess they're good things to have for the more normal humans, though."

Winter was really bothersome, though. She hated wearing anything heavy -- it felt so restrictive -- but there wasn't much choice with the way that things were going. Soul Society was no stranger to chilly weather in particular, but it didn't start getting so cold this early on. Besides Kisuke and Soifon, the milder climate was probably what she missed the most about back home. At least her tips from the cafe were enough to stock up on decent winter attire.

That "coffee" stuff was nice for staying warm, too. She'd grown rather fond of it.

"Just a couple of blocks, huh? So what do you do when you're not giving lectures about sexual practices?"

Kia raised an eyebrow and blinked a couple times. "How are you faster than a vehicle?" he wondered, completely clueless about abilities beyond the empathy he'd been developing here on Siren's Port. People just couldn't do strange things where he came from, so thinking about everyone here having a special skill sometimes made his head hurt.

He missed a lot of things from home, but the attitudes most people here had about sex made up for it. Emphasis on most people. Some were still giant piles of no fun who thought he was just a boring pervert. When the waiter came over, he ordered himself hot chocolate to buy himself time to think about how to answer that question.

"I help people out with personal problems. That's about all I can say," he said with a slightly sheepish smile. Kia couldn't be more specific since he never knew when a person he knew would end up as a target or be interested enough in his classified ad to hire him.
