Rikku time (which is probably early afternoon) sodisasterrific September 19 2010, 22:29:37 UTC
Today was going to be a different day. It was a new sun shining, with new faces as she walked down the street. Rikku could leave all the stress that was last night behind her easily. Though she was still a little uneasy around Aizen, after seeing him pull that stunt, Gin had managed to cheer her up with his company. It was always great to spend time with people. Being alone was the worst ( ... )

Brooke was rather entranced by his own musical store and as such hadn't noticed Rikku was patiently waiting for him until he had finished his piece. It was actually a trickier piece than he had expected it to be which he had found refreshing. He sighed and looked up from his piano to see the young thief watching him, and jumped about a foot off his chair and fell over. "L-lady Rikku! I didn't realize you were there! Sorry to have kept you waiting."

Brooke crawled out from under his piano and quickly flipped his body up, which would make a normal man's blood rush from their head. Brooke however no longer had blood and as such didn't get dizzy from such things. "So, are you ready to begin today's lesson? We won't be using our bows, we'll just be using the violins today."

When Brooke jumped, so did Rikku. It was such a big surprise that she leaped nearly a foot back and almost into a shelf. Luckily, she caught herself just in time to not cause a disaster. Laughter soon followed. The skeleton was so silly as he flipped and flopped all about. Soon, she was sure, Brooke's ways of greeting her would be more normal. Or maybe she would just get used to his weirdness. Either way, she was still coming to his shop, right?

"Huh? Why just the violin?" the young thief cocked her head to the side. "I mean, don'tcha need the bow thingy to make it play music in the first place?" Then again, what Rikku had been playing was not exactly music. It sounded more like an angry chocobo chasing Brother.

Brooke nodded as he lead her through the kitchen, through the hall, and into the back room where their violin lessons took play. "To play without the bow, is one of the beginning techniques of learning to play a string instrument. The bow is designed to amplify the sound of a violin and it gives it a distinct sound, but a string instrument can also be played by plucking it's strings. Much like a guitar or harp." Brooke opened the door to the back room and removed his violin from it's case be left the bow inside ( ... )

Morning - Sunako wants to talk to Brooke, but other conversation threads are cool, too. horror_otaku September 20 2010, 00:46:37 UTC
Brooke's efforts to have the shop in top condition had just made Sunako work harder this morning. Clean tables, crisp menus, perfectly shaped pastries - she made sure that everything was perfect in the cafe.

However, now that the doors were open and people were starting to drift in, she could take a minute to relax. There was something she had been meaning to ask Brooke, but had been working up the nerve to do it.

She approached the piano, holding her serving tray protectively against her stomach, and waited for a lull in the music before breaking in. "Um...Brooke? Can I ask you a question?"

Brooke was rather proud of his employees, but especially Sunako. She was an excellent worker, and despite her morbid fascinations, made exquisite pastries. So it was when Sunako asked if she could ask a question Brooke happily would oblige her. "Of course you can Sunako. You don't even need to ask if you may ask me a question, I always have time to at least answer a question. Is it about work today, or perhaps something more personal?"

"No, it's not about work." Sunako turned her tray around in her hands. "I don't know if you saw, but I made a movie for the film festival. I didn't win, but all of the runners-up get to have a movie premiere party."

"I think you'd really like it!" Her eyes got bright and she was sidelined for a moment thinking of her movie. She was forgetting that Brooke didn't actually like scary things, despite being kind of scary (to people who didn't have the right taste) himself.

"So I was wondering..." she looked up at him with big eyes, "Will you be my date?"

Brooke was in a bit of a state of shock. This had never happened to him before... not even once! He had asked girls on dates before, and was rejected pretty much every single time, but he had never had a girl ask him before. He felt like his heart had stopped, which technically it had, although about 50 years ago. This was like every dream he had ever had come true, but when it actually became realized, he was almost too shocked to respond.

Brooke smacked himself in the head to get his head straight, both literally and metaphorically. She had even asked him with big eyes, and Brooke was an absolute sucker for big pleading eyes. "Of course I will! How could I possibly refuse such a kind, and generous offer, from a lady such as yourself?" Brooke bowed deeply holding his top hat over his heart ribcage as he did so. "It would be an honor and a privilege if you would allow me to be your date for this party."

After struggling with the map on her NV cellphone for a good portion of the morning, Sarina had a long and confusing sort of journey to the shop Brooke directed her to meet him at. The thing was though, it wasn't the directions themselves that hampered her trek--her nanomachines were programmed to naturally feel direction after glancing at an appropriate map. Rather, she was rather slow, as she took a child-like wonderment in being able to roam around in a city without much fear of danger. Of course, in her distraction, she bumped into the occasional person, but even then the worst she dealt with was a brash remark to watch where she was going.

Eventually though, she made it to the store. She hesitated for nearly a minute, constantly reading over the sign just to make sure she wasn't reading it wrong or something. After a long pause though, she nervously pushed open the door, peeking her head inside. Hearing the familiar piano play, her head shifted in the direction of the music as she searched for her skeletal acquaintance.

Brooke heard a familiar voice near the door and knew it to be Laughing Beauty, or as he simply called her, beauty. He finished his piano piece leaving the last few notes to linger in the air as he made his way over to the door, and politely bowed to his new guest. "Welcome to the store my lady. I'm glad to see you, and that you made it here alright. You look especially charming today, but then again my eyesight isn't what it used to be without my eyes. Yohohoho!"

Brooke led her to one of the tables of his tea corner that had a tea pot, and a vase of red roses in the center of it. "Do you like tea? I don't know if we quite went over that question when we made our plans to meet at my store for ice cream. I have a lot of different teas on my menu for you to choose from." Brooke said pointing at one of his menus situated at each chair.

As Brooke bowed to her, Sarina gave a small smile herself, bowing incredibly awkwardly in return as she was unsure of what the proper etiquette was, in that particular situation. "Thanks for inviting me, teehee~!" Taking a pause, she spun herself around slowly, scanning the area of his shop, drawing close attention to any trinkets around. Though she wondered how Brooke could see without eyes, she was learning that if there was anything that seemed out of place, even by her own twisted standards of logic, it was most likely due to some weird fruit he ate. Really, it was similar to the nanomachimes from her own world.

Following him to the table, her gloved thumb glided over the edge of the table. Distracted by the sensation of being in a new setting, she nearly missed his inquiry. "Hmm? Oh, tea ( ... )

Brooke had to pause to think about that. There were so many different types of tea at this store that it was hard to say which one he would suggest for not having had tea in a long time. "Well that all depends on what you're in the mood for really. Tea can have many different varieties of taste. I could make you a very sweet tea, a bitter tea, a spicy tea, a minty tea, a sour tea, and then there's simply so many types of fruits and herbs to enhance it with." He then remembered that he was still talking to someone with little experience in tea.

"Still, if you can tell me what kind of taste your looking for in your tea, I'll serve you up my personal favorite of that kind of tea."

He wasn't one to socialize and party, generally speaking, even if there were times when the fun's magnetic pull was so strong that Zoro couldn't help himself. But this was one of those times where he sat in one corner, on a chair, with an ankle propped up on one knee. A sip from his tea cup, followed by a loud gulp. It might have looked like tea to others but Zoro didn't want tea at this time of the day. His tea cup instead, contained whiskey ( ... )

Brooke noticed the young swordsmen (probably the most skilled swordsmen he had ever known) by himself in the corner like usual with... a cup of tea. This was new to Brooke, he was pretty sure he had never seen Zoro drink tea before and chuckled to himself at the very idea of it. Brooke decided that he should try including Zoro at least a little, because Zoro was almost always off by himself training, meditating, or simply brooding.

So it was that Brooke made his way to the corner where Zoro was sitting, stopping by to check on different customers on his way to make it look less conspicuous. Brooke was playing an accordion this time around as he sat next to Zoro playing a pirate's life is a wonderful life. "How have you been Zoro? I haven't really spoken with you much recently."

A nod was Zoro's answer, quickly followed by a soft grunt which translated that he was doing fine. As fine as one can be, given the circumstances. But he doesn't dwell much on the subject and instead tipped his chin towards the hall and people in general.

"You've been a busy man. Big audience."

Which was to say that Zoro admired how efficient and thorough Brooke was. By far, this was the biggest success in the crew's survival. Brooke had their asses covered.

"Pretty cool if you ask me. You know all these people?"

A sip of 'tea'.

Brooke smiled at the question. "My dear friend Zoro, I'm a bard" Brooke said as if that explained everything. "A bard without an audience is simply a crazy man playing tic-tac-toe on his face, on a ship going nowhere for 50 years ( ... )
