Daedalus was anxious. He didn't particularly like being out after the sirens, and he didn't particularly like being out at the mercy of Raul Creed, either.
However, his prototype shells needed testing on the dark creatures, and he wasn't about to hand them off to SERO's test groups until he knew they'd have some effect, and he'd promised the Security Chief first batch- to make up for tossing his last set, perhaps. In some effort of peace offering. To keep them on working terms, now that they were in positions were that would be mutually beneficial again.
But the doctor also knew couldn't test them out in the field on his own. He'd never used a firearm before. But he knew they'd work in a theoretical sense, and he'd made the first set to fit the caliber rounds Raul's pistol carried ( ... )

All he had time was to nod at her order and make sure Daedalus didn't move too far, and when he did move, he reached out and brought his hand to his shoulder, holding on tight enough so he wouldn't go anywhere.
Besides that, he was too caught up in watching, because dear god, it was like watching that Proxy all over again.]

Re-l grabbed the thing by its throat, wings buffeting her back and shoulders. Its claws struck out for her own neck, ripping her collar even as she threw it bodily onto the pavement.
The pain shot through her only briefly before she was back on it as it scrabbled back onto its feet. Her hand struck out, piercing it through the shoulder and spilling its waxy, dark blood all over the cement.
She dropped it back to the ground and stood there for a moment, hand dripping with already drying wax.]

Oh god- Oh, god, how could she- even knowing about the wings, to see her exhibiting this kind of power...her Amrita cell count must have skyrocketed?!
She fought with her bare hands, and with such accelerated movement...like the Proxies.
To brought him to paralyzed wonder, astonished, forgetting all that he'd come out here to accomplish. And when she'd finished hurling it to the pavement, where it laid lifeless, Daedalus remembered to breathe, taking a step back that bumped him up against Raul, but with an arm extended to her.]
Come, come, Re-l, let's hurry back inside.
[When he moved, the stiffened wax hurt- but he was alive. She was alive. She was...amazing.]

His gun was still up, arm outstretched even as he tightened his hold on Daedalus. She had moved so fast, she was...she was glowing. She moved so quickly, just like--
It all happened in the quick of an eye; a man in red, a path of death behind it, a carriage falling to the ground, a figure held in prayer--]
No. Don't touch her. [He finally said, finger lightly on the trigger.]

She sighed and took a step forward, a bullet shooting past her and striking her prey, killing it instantaneously. She glanced back at it, and then back to Raul, watching him point the weapon at her now.]
You're going to shoot me, Raul Creed? [She wasn't afraid.] Go ahead and try.

Don't touch her? Wh- [His eyes tore from Re-l to the barrel of the gun, still steady, and aimed...
no...]
NO! [Daedalus choked in sudden realization, horrified at Re-l's returned challenge. That wasn't even a dare to take lightly! Not with her Amrita cells flared to activity, not like that, she'd never survive- A harsh yell which strained off into a desperate, pleasing hiss.] NO, Re-l! Don't tell him that! You'll- you'll die...
[He didn't quite have the grip to throw Raul off his shoulder, but a hand did snatch for his forearm to try and wrench his pistol-arm aside, eyes wild. Not much of an effectual or smart move, all things considered.]
Don't be an idiot!
Reply
He felt him grab at his forearm, and he just tightened his hold on the gun, hitting Daedalus away and using the hand on his shoulder to move him away again.]
She's a Proxy. [He put the gun back up, pointing it at Re-l. But he faltered in thought. This wasn't the same as it had been when he had his shot at Ergo. Vincent Law. He didn't say anything, just continued to keep the gun pointed at her. No monsters would come to disturb them now, would they.]

Instead, she started at the younger man's protests, finally moving once Raul had hit Daedalus. Re-l walked towards them, stopping an arm's breadth away, the barrel of the gun pointed at her breast bone.
One shot would be all it would take. But instead, she lifted a hand set it on top of the gun, slowly lowering it. Her eyes locked with Raul's.]
I'm not a Proxy. I'm just a clone. [A pause.] Now, if you're done getting yourselves in danger for the evening, I think we should get inside.

...and by that time Re-l had already lowered the gun for herself, the two were locked in a close staredown. But the worst of the threat had fallen away.
His lungs emptied in relief. Only to fill again and explode on Raul.]
You fool!
[The doctor seethed. Idiot. A proxy! A clone...realizing things a little late in the game- needed to have them spelled out. And he'd spit them out furiously, shifting to take a place defensively at Re-l's side...for what little physical help he could give, he'd readily try and get between them if the chief didn't stand down.]
Her cellular structure's adaptive to Amrita Cells, but you never know the half of anything before doing something reckless, do you?
You could have-! You could have hurt her!
[And just like that, Daedalus threw up his arms and withdrew with an exasperated hiss, flustering, glancing ( ... )

Which was what she was. This meant that some things came to light, yes; but she remained the same person, did she not? It was like coming to this place and gaining new powers, or strange abilities.
And she wasn't Vincent Law. She wasn't Ergo Proxy, and while she may be a clone of the same thing that it was, there was a marked difference. Ignoring Daedalus as he made off for the club once again, he looked at her for a long time once more before letting the hand holding the gun dropped down. Re-l Mayer, he's giving you trust. You have helped his daughter and kept her safe; you have done nothing to him besides left him to deal with an unhinged Daedalus while you went gallivanting off with Vincent Law ( ... )

She couldn't read his mind, but she was sure that the same mental processes that had gone through her head concerning Vincent as well.
Slowly, she relaxed, her shoulders rolling back.]
At least that's done with.
[Re-l hung back while the two of them walked towards the club, glancing where the monster had been. She sighed and shook her wax-covered hand out, finally following after Raul.]
Are you hurt?
Reply
And then there was Re-l. Re-l, who had just...saved him, certainly, and he didn't want to shower her in thanks in front of the Security Chief, not now when things were tense, and his hands were still shaking slightly at his sides, and monster secretions were still hardening on his skin, his clothes-]
Is there any place to wash up?
[He asked wearily, his voice quieter- waiting for Raul to key back in... Lion's Gate had to have clean running water, it was one of the finest facilities in the city. His head hurt.]

[He didn't want to talk to Re-l Mayer right now. He felt he was allowed that much. Let's get Daedalus cleaned up, and then they could talk. He strode forward, keying them back into the building and nodding at the guards stationed near the doors.]
I'll be in my office if anyone needs me. And if someone needs me, call first. Daedalus Yumeno, Re-l Mayer, if you'll follow me? Weapons left at the door, if you will.
[He walked forward and then stopped, waiting for the two of them to catch up.]

Re-l reaches out and takes Daedalus by the arm, leading him inside and over to Raul.]
Come on.

No weapons for the doctor to deposit, No one seems too eager to pat him down, either.
Covered in monster's blood and wax, neither are a tasteful sight for the club, so Daedalus hunches up self-conciously in efforts to look unassuming. Keeping close to Raul's lead, just to make sure it isn't questioned what they're doing here, he latches securely to Re-l's arm when she offers it.
The bullets- he'll contemplate their effectiveness much much later. For now...mortality is pitching around his mind in restless self-awareness. Almost carried off- would Raul Creed have bothered to save me? If he had, at what cost of personal debt? As it stands, using his bathroom is something he'll likely hold against me later. Must mind not to clog the sink, with whatever this stuff is.The adrenaline rush subsides to a lulled throb, an unfamiliar ache in his limbs. He manages to murmur quiet thanks to Re-l, still a bit shaken ( ... )
