Brook was in the corner of the store playing a piano piece and had become so caught up in it, he had lost track of time. The song was Bink's Sake, and went something like this. He heard a voice from the doorway and though nothing of it until he remembered that he'd promised a certain someone a duel today. He quickly finished up his piano piece and made his way to the front door ( ... )

“I…” Utena was a little overwhelmed with the music, the joking, and unexpected invitation. She was not musically inclined but the little piano rift had been enchanting and she sort of wanted to hear the rest of it, but she was too shy to ask. Brooke also had a very…disconcerting laugh, if only because it was so cliché it was unexpected. It wasn’t necessarily unpleasant however. She swallowed and straightened, clenching the sword a bit tighter. She was not some little easily impressed school girl after all.

“I will take a cup, thank you,” she said politely, and without any relief of having tea she had not herself brewed. She had found out she was rather horrible at it.

Brooke pulled out a chair for her as was only proper manners, and handed her one of the tea menus. "We have almost any kind of tea you could want here, everything from Earl Grey, Jasmine, Green tea, and even some of your stranger ones like Hawaiian pineapple. Since I am your host, and you are my guest, I will treat you to any kind of cup of tea you like, but if you want any of our sandwiches or pastries, those will still cost you."

Brooke paused for a moment and tapped his chin thoughtfully. "I was wondering lady Utena, how would you feel about making a friendly wager on our spar?"

Utena blinked at the menu but the sound of a wager interested her even more. She looked up at Brooke, and had to admit. “Well I don’t really have any money to bet, but if maybe you wanted something else, I don’t see why not.”

She felt confident enough in her abilities after all.
