[A walk normally would settle Byakuya's mind, but all he could hear was the impulsive and inane babble of Senbonzakura rattling through his mind. It was rather disturbing to hear himself babbling to himself.

He wondered why his grandfather had put up with him.

Feeling the power, Byakuya couldn't help but put a hand on the hilt of Senbonzakura. He's been showering sakura blossoms wherever he walks since this morning. Now wasn't any different. In fact, he put a hand on the hilt and the blossoms increased.

[Byakuya simply stands ready, more petals showering from his sleeves. His curiosity is piqued, however. He cannot believe that Aizen allowed that. Or if he did, it was to manipulate them further.]

[She speaks quite matter of factly. It's neither the raving of a fantatic nor is it the fearful simpering of a broken subordinate desparate to get into Aizen's good graces.]

[Nelliel is grateful that Luppi isn't here. She's almost certain he'd have something offensive to say to the Captain about the current state of his zanpakuto. He doesn't seem like the sort to be easily provoked, but he could use something like that to justify attacking an opponent he already wishes to fight.]

Not easily. Aizen-sama is the only one who could have managed what he did. He is powerful, strategic and fearless. Not even Ichimaru-san or Tousen-san could command our respect to the extent that Aizen-sama does.

[Well, Byakuya couldn't deny that. Ichimaru and Tousen weren't well known for their strategic thinking, and he fully believed they'd been very easily led by Aizen.]

No. One who sees us as entitites to be eradicated rather than as people could never command us. We may have been subordinates for Aizen-sama to use as he saw fit, but he did recognize us as individuals with names and personalities.

[Of course, that immense power, Kyoka Suigetsu, and the fact that Espada so rarely trusted each other enough to effectively team up also helped.]

[Byakuya ticks up an eyebrow, and relaxes his stance.]

Yet, I have offered no violence. If I merely saw you as an entity to be eradicated, I would have.

[It's on the tip of her tongue to tell him that he would not succeed, but it would be childish.]

A battle between the two of us would have been pointlessly destructive and resulted in many casualties. It would also inspire the more hot blooded members of each others' ranks to follow suit.

The Espada are able to feed on the darkness monsters. Since they come back nightly, we have not been consuming human souls. Three of us have jobs. There is very little reason to attack us here.

[She wouldn't say there was no reason at all - they were dangerous and Grimmjow and Szayel Aporro had both served as reminders of that. Still, they had all been much more restrained than they could have been.]
