You know, it's not every day your boss gets kidnapped in front of you. [She paused for a moment, as if trying to recall whether Wolfram and Hart had ever tried to kidnap Angel.] I mean, not every, every day, anyways ( Read more... )

Someone kidnapped your boss?

[A pause.]

Alright, I guess the answer to that is rather obvious. I'd like to rephrase the question by altering my tone to indicate my surprise at the action. Someone kidnapped your boss?!

No matter how much surprise you add to your tone, that doesn't change the fact that that's exactly what happened.

Yes, but this is the part where you can tell me what happened, and then I can offer to look for him based on the information you've given me.

Basically, a bunch of people from AGI came in, made it so the rest of us couldn't move, grabbed him, and then left.

When it rains it REALLY pours around here, huh? First Prosecutor Godot and now Sam. That's who I'm guessing you're talking about, I mean.

You'd be correct. So you know Sam too, then?

How is business there?

Not a complete disaster, but not great either. We're still getting customers though, so that's something I guess.

Could you estimate a percentage loss in profit?

Probably about forty or thirty percent, if I'm just guessing off the top of my head.

I assume by "these corporations" you mean AGI and SERO. In which case, yes, I learned a great deal about them while researching the nature of the Core. I'll try to explain this as succinctly as I can.

[Wesley is digging shit up through his mountain of books and papers and such just for you, Cordelia.]

The Darkness and Darkness monsters are the result of a malfunction in the Core. AGI wishes to keep the Core from being fixed. They believe if it is, a meltdown like one that took place approximately 80 years ago will occur and wipe out the entire population of the Port. They also have a reputation for [he lowers his voice,] human trafficking.

[He stops to breathe and goes through more papers.] SERO wants to rebuild the Core. They think that getting it back in fully functioning condition is the key to solving the problem of the Pull. They seem more forward-thinking and welcoming towards newcomers, but I would still regard them with caution.

If your employer has got into a spot of trouble with AGI, I would be very concerned for his

That's exactly what I meant.

[She falls silent for once in her life to listen to his ramblings and take in the information.]

He definitely has, if them hauling him away is any clue. I figured out they had to be pretty shady when they used some kind of ability or something to freeze everyone in the bar. We couldn't have helped him even if we tried.

Perhaps we should make an effort to save him.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Hence the whole asking for information thing.

I don't really feel like cheering, but...at least none of the entertainment's backed out yet.

Well, it was more of a sarcastic cheer than anything else. It's good nobody's backed out though. If we shut down operations, it would be like letting them win.
