[Dour Himawari is dour. She holds a small cat to her shoulder and neck, sitting back on a couch that isn’t hers. The cat sleeps while she talks to the NV]

He’s gone again. [There is a moment, her jaw works, sets, and then she just sighs.] I’m not even sure how long he’s been gone this time. Not that long, I hope ( Read more... )

It's starting to get pretty depressing around here.

That's weird, though. We usually get a trickle of people eventually...

It is a bit depressing. And your right, we do tend to get a few people at the least. It's been very empty in the apartments however.

Any GOOD news lately? Besides a bunch of guys being idiots and having a fight club?

You still live in them?

Oh, right. I read about that. It's just a club for people to go fight? I suppose a friendly battle wouldn't be bad, but I have a feeling they aren't so friendly.

Ah, yes. I work as a greeter so I don't have to worry too much about rent here.

Who's gone?

[a pause.]

If... no one comes anymore, doesn't that mean the Core's been... fixed? [and then none of them will get home again?]

[A small pause, her voice dropping again, sad] Doumeki. I called him this morning about the apartments and I got no answer. Disconnected. [She's sitting at his place, looking after the cat. She's been here before] He'll... come back soon. He always does.

If it was fixed they would have sent us home, right? It's not fixed. I'm sure we'll see others show up again. I've read in the history books that there have been long periods of inactivity before. This could just be the start of one of those.

That's ...

What do you mean by 'again?'

And, anyway, I'm sure he'll show up, again... since this is an 'again,' right?

Do not worry, Ms. Kunogi. No one will end up on the street.

I'm very glad to hear you say that, Mr. Edgeworth, but I'm not worried about people ending up on the street. I'm more worried about the fact that they are starting to push one of the only helpful tools to a newly arrived person out of our hands. There's only so many rooms in a boarding house or three.

Well. This is the only assistance they give us; it's not as though they can escalate the denial of support.

The apartment funding was one, yes but they also give assistance to those looking to attend college here as well as benefits if you take up with one company or another. College assistance will be the next to go, I'm sure.
