I would imagine the universities are based on merit. Perhaps it would be easier with a sponsor--someone to speak for you who is of age.

I'd hope so, but you never know sometimes where there might be age restrictions. But that does sound like a good idea. Thank you.

Well, they put me in fourth, because of my age. [He catches the annoyed look at the textbooks.] Are you having trouble with that?

[groan. Head, meet desk. Desk, head. Kazu is a smart kid, just not exactly book smart.]

Well, yeah. Apparently that's the grade you're supposed to be in when you're ten, so . . . I got homeschooled back in my world, so I don't really know what's supposed to be normal.

[He does perk up at the subject matter, though.] Math? I could help you, if you want. I'm really good at it.

[Hey kid, don't mind the pretty green lady giving some rare, well-intentioned advice. She has a soft spot for you children.]

It's not unheard of for youths to enter colleges at an earlier age, if they're especially gifted. Though, in this town, I'm unsure of whether or not it's allowed.

As for your lodging, I have an extra room if you need it.

[His first instinct is to wonder if she's a Namek, but she doesn't have pointy ears, a bald head, or antennae. There's also no such thing as a female Namek. So that idea gets banished pretty much instantly.]

Well, I've spent some time at the university libraries, and the stuff there does seem to be at the level I'm used to.

[He smiles at the offer.] You do? Uh . . . you should know beforehand that I kind of eat a lot. Way more than most people. I wouldn't want to put a strain on you if that'd be an issue.

Just beware that you might have to work harder than the others, to prove that you deserve to be at a higher level.

[pause.] How much food, exactly?

Oh, that's okay. I always work hard anyway. And I'm used to being underestimated.

[Sheepishly:] Well, what an average family can eat in two or maybe three days, I can eat in a single meal.
