Kira is what is important. So, yes.

You can punish people for what they've done here within the confines of the law that is readily available to be read, understood, and taken into consideration. It poses a problem when people don't understand this place, its culture, and what it means to commit a crime.

So there are exceptions. Or there should be, in your mind.

I think that it would be beneficial to have it explained to people. Or that there should be a way to educate those who don't understand this time period or the culture. A crime to us may not be the same to them.

A crime here would warrant a more serious review, I should think. Prosecutor Edgeworth has said it would be impossibly unfair to hold people to their crimes back home, through the justice system here.

Nonetheless, having a known history of criminal activity does lend a bias to how people will be perceived. Especially if an individual does not voice remorse for having done something wrong.

Do you believe this island is a prison for criminals?

So you also believe in a bias. The people who have admitted to things should be watched. But if it's unfair to hold people to their crimes, should we allow our judgment to be so clouded?

Are you a criminal?

I believe that a stronger administrative surveillance, preventative measures, would reduce the potential for repeat offenses, certainly...

Are you?

Do you have ideas that are more specific than that, or are those your only ideas?

You answer first, unless you can't.

It's unfair to suggest that there aren't a great deal of villains more deserving of suspicion and attention than those that have revealed themselves. The Valentine's Day killer is an example of that. An unknown murderer is far more dangerous than one that has admitted his crimes.

But we know who he is now. So does he become less dangerous?

Inevitably.

Oh. Uhm. The part about... people killing where they come from and getting in trouble for it here, Sir.

I'm not a "sir".

Why shouldn't they? You have to give a reason.
