{Fifth Darkfall} Action (Before morning sirens)

[The blackout is something he can quite enjoy. So few bright lights. And there are so many that just seem to squirm without electricity. Sure, there are places that had enough forethought to install backup generators. That he applauds. But that is not what brings him out. With the darkness seeming even more pervasive than usual, even more deep and ( Read more... )

[Oh, what luck! While this one's been looking for him, she didn't actually expect to stumble across the guy on patrol tonight. The Port can be kind, every once in a while. She's touched down on the roof of a building above, lightly and quietly. The bright yellow cape isn't exactly built for stealth, but the blackout renders its flashy color dull.

She's just watching, for now, but her slingshot is out and loaded with her favorite explosive ammo. Just in case.]

[Don't expect to remain hidden long. His senses are open completely, and that means he can sense the girl. And that gets his attention, most definitely. So after ripping through the last of the monsters below with a hand, squeezing the heart he needs to feed on as he tears it out, he simply seems to vanish.

Except moments later, there will be a sound. Swirling darkness as he appear upon the rooftops with her, polearm still held in one hand as he hovers just off the ground. Not a word is said.]

[She would have looked disappointed when he disappeared, only she hadn't the heart to care (har har). Her slingshot had lowered and relaxed though, only to be immediately back in the game when he reappears near her.

She stares for a second or two, impassively. But, hey. As long as he knows she's there, she knows he's there, there's just not much sense in beating around the bush.]

Are you stealing hearts from people around here?

How observant.

[It's mocking, because he's been doing this since his arrival. He knew someone would eventually notice, but it's taken quite a long time. He can't fault them, though. They know so little.]

But I think you will be disappointed to find that I am far more sated by the creatures that prowl the darkness than by human hearts.

Mayuri had been fascinated by the changes in the monsters with the power outage. This had been a rare instance in which the majority of the city was truly covered in pitch black darkness, and Mayuri had taken in an interest in the correlation between this black and the change in monster behavior. So naturally he had paused his other project to research the creatures and collect a few new specimens. In addition several specimens which he had only rarely seen in the outermost skirts of the forest where now roaming the streets rather boldly.

He had already released the initial state of his Zanpakuto, causing it to closely resemble a trident more than a sword, and was poking at a rather canine looking creature when he heard the approach of another and glanced around to see who was interrupting his research.

It's a good feeling to finally let loose, allow his instincts to run rampant. But that doesn't mean Ansem will be rude, especially when coming across someone in the dark of the night. At least, someone he doesn't really recognize, and one perhaps as eccentric as some of the Heartless are strange. He does keep his polearm on hand, but he otherwise shows no outward signs of hostility toward Mayuri.

"A wonderful morning to be out and about," he greets, grin wide and wicked.

Ahh this wasn't one of those greeters or the ones that often complained about Mayuri's methods of gathering specimens and data. Making a few more small incisions paralyzing the creature he was currently examining Mayuri turned back around with a rather wide grin, "An intriguing one~ This world really is a treasure trove~ Espada, androids, so many different specimens to analyze and study."

[ The darkest of nights it may be, but when Aslan passes by, even the inky blackness appears to melt away. He pauses and turns his head, fathomless golden eyes settling on the Heartless King's. ]

[And Ansem notices. Oh, he definitely notices. And it leaves quite the bad taste in his mouth. He approaches, but remains outside of the areas affected by Aslan.]

I had hardly expected so much light on a night such as this.

[ He watches the other approach, calm as the glistening Eastern Sea on a summer's day. Whatever distaste Ansem may feel, the sentiment is not shared. ]

Where darkness lives, there light must be also.

[ This spoken with quiet certainty. Others may fear it, but Aslan does not. ]

There are places of pitch black. Light is not always necessary.
