[ A clatter of the communicator falling to the ground. A run-of-the-mill oblivious owner completely ignorant of it's existence, but the sound that is broadcast is clear enough. ]
-- Enough!
[ To anyone that might be hearing this, the impression they'd get is that Altaïr is speaking to nothing but air... and in this case, they'd be right

adjusting his hood, he shifted away from the topic of the piece, instead nodding at the question about shelter. ] It seems the city provides Newcomers with a small residency. An 'apartment.' [ a wary glance around, mostly out of habit. ] I was wary of staying in such a place at first, but when the sun sets, the streets are filled with -- creatures. Monsters. To remain outside would have been foolish.
[ lowering his hand, he shifted his weight marginally. ] Our biggest concerns here may not be the Templars, any more.

The talk of a 'apartment' was unsettling, there was no trust for those that greeted them, and the same could be said about the people that communicated with him before. But the talk of monsters had Altaïr's eyes widen in the slightest of disbelief ( -- Nothing is true, everything is permitted.) had him ask. ] -- Monsters.
[ He paused, words returning to their former curtness. ] You've had experience with these -- creatures?

I would not blame you for thinking me a madman, but I've seen them. I attempted to last the night outside when I arrived here, unwilling to take to the shelter offered to me, but the streets were teeming with them. Strange creatures unlike any animal. Some were weak, easy to defend myself from, but others... [ a low exhale. others had been almost terrifying. he was just reluctant to say. ]
Even you would have difficulty with them, Altair.

What you speak of is true, then. [ What little belief that there was was still enough. Though with Malik's next words of Altair's own abilities that had the possibly of him being incapable of defeating them was startling. It was not arrogance, but well-deserved confidence. ]
We will need to scout more information on those that corrupt the city, what brought us here. [ Pause. ] -- Find another shelter.

[ a slow exhale. this was all -- so much to deal with. rubbing at his jaw, he nodded in response to altair's words. ] I have been trying, but it feels strange, performing the task of the informants. [ a low laugh. ] Perhaps my time at the bureau has made me rusty. But what I have kept record of so far is yours to see.
[ a glance in the direction he had come from. ] Shelter, yes. But tonight, the 'apartments' may be safer. It will take time, finding a place we can guarantee safe.

These -- [ Taking out the NV to display the device at Malik. ] -- I do not understand how they fully work, but we shall use them to keep in contact. [ It was risky, Altair knew this, but what other choice was there? ]
For now I will find out what I can.

[ but this wasn't really time for jokes. ] I have marked the location of the shelters on the map. It is divided into private quarters for each Newcomer -- I shall mark the entrance to mine so you will recognize it, should you need me. [ pause. what else was there to say? a low breath in. ]
I will also find out what I can. It would be a waste for me to spend my time behind a counter, now that we are without allies. [ a sage nod. ] Take care, brother. You are strong, but these lands are strange.

I will come to you at dusk. [ From the time now, it looked to be near-noon, this would have given enough time for Altair to secure his surroundings and find out what he could in due time.
He turned his back to the other, walked to the edge of the building before tilting his head over his shoulder. ] To you as well, Malik. [ And with that, he disappeared into the crowd below them. ]

[ the flutter of white fabric, and the other was gone. malik only stayed for a moment longer before also turning away, once more adjusting his hood to make sure it would hide his face. no need to stand out too much.
a brief pause, as he shifted his weight before the opposite edge of the building, then dropped down and into the streets. ]
