Fear is quite annoying, isn't it? I can relate. It only holds you back from what you really want to do---like an anvil in a sack.
Still, Akira...making some friends here and there doesn't hurt. You don't need a thousand of them, but friends can really help you through trying times. I'm one for solitude myself, but being alone your whole life is a fate...much worse than death.
