--aps if I simply-- ah! S-such a light turned on--! ...o-oh, I see. [having turned on the NV's audio successfully, Japan is pleased. his tone comes off as relatively calm, despite the situation that has been explained to him by the greeter, and just how ill he felt.]Ah... excuse me. Such devices are strange to me... Though I look forward to ( Read more... )

No way! Hobbies are supposed to be fun stuff! That's not fun!

Ah... as for fun, I enjoy drawing. I suppose this could have been mentioned, though it did not seem as necessary.

--Hi, Japan. I'm Ritsuka Aoyagi.

Where I'm from - well, there's a country named Japan that I'm from. Heard of it?

[The name thing must be some funny coincidence, because man he's met people with some weird names.]

The help here kinda sucks, is there anything that you need to know in particular? Have you found your way to the Newcomer apartments yet?

...Hm? Yes, I am the country. Pleased to meet you.

[he says this so casually, as if it was a simple hearing error, then moves on]

I have not... To be honest, I am still processing much of this.

[The response is ingrained, automatic.] Pleased to meet you too, Mr. Japan.

[Siiiigh. What is it with people and thinking they're countries? On the other hand, there are people from worlds where people don't have their cat ears so Ritsuka has learned to just take what people say at face value. He says he's a country, Ritsuka doesn't see how that's possible, but he's certainly not the first guy with that delusion he's ever spoken to, and hey, maybe he means it in some abstract way that only counts in his world. Hard to tell.]

Yeah, it can be a lot to take in. I guess you're fine for now since it's daylight, but if the greeter didn't tell you, you need to be inside before the sirens go off at night. It's a good idea to find shelter once the sun begins to set.

That's pretty much the most important thing you can know about this place, aside from 'stay away from AGI or SERO'.

I see... I believe I recall something of that nature. Ahh, to be expected to adjust so quickly is rather tiring for someone of my age...

AGI and SERO, is it...

Japan? That's a strange name.

Do you think so? I suppose it sounds more formal with the entirety, though Toku--- ah, no... "Empire of Greater Japan" is quite a mouthful, isn't it?

swordline January 19 2011, 17:20:22 UTC
That sounds too long, so I guess Japan would do. Your parents must have really loved Japan to name you like that.

And can you really call that a hobby...

asideglance January 19 2011, 17:26:03 UTC
Hahhh? I am the country itself. Surely you realize this.

... Is it so wrong to call it a hobby?

Those are very good habits indeed.

You are Japan?

[I will assume Rainbow Dash taught him how to use video!]

Yes, that's correct.

Is this a title, or are you its embodiment?

[video] asideglance January 19 2011, 18:00:01 UTC
Embodiment? I suppose that would be the correct word.

[In the same vein as most of the "whut" commentary . . .]

You're . . . Japan.

Yes, that's correct.

As in the country. [Pause.] How does that even work?

Ah, yes, I am the Empire of Greater Japan. [...] Are so many confused by this concept? I am the representation of both my land and my people.
