[He takes a long time to collect himself before speaking.]

[He pauses, looking at her carefully. It's almost surprising that he doesn't find her face mangled and destroyed.]

[she sits quiet for a little while, eventually pushing a small, self-conscious smile on her face as her shoulders shrug up.]

Well?

[mentis_reae]

You're...all right.

[piracyinpink]

[a quiet chuckle and a single nod.]

I'm all right.

[mentis_reae]

I thought you were hurt.

[piracyinpink]

[pressing her lips into a thin line, tilting her head down with a light hum, pinky tapping her skin.

she looks up with the smile again.] You're still on audio.

Sorry?

[pointing at the screen.]

Change it. Let me see you, too.

[mentis_reae]

[A pause, and then he switches on video. He's clearly not slept in a number of days, and his cheeks look a bit hollow, but he is whole.]

[after a beat, she exhales, dropping her head again and bringing her hand over her eyes. she chuckles hollowly before looking back up with a heavy sigh, slipping her hand back into place and blinking rapidly for a moment. she smiles slightly once again.]

You look terrible.

[His response to that is to reach up to try to straighten his cravat.]

[she laughs, head drooping again and sending her fingers combing into her hair.] There you go.

Mno. Not at all. But it's fine...All things considered. [she looks up again, the corner of her mouth twitching a little.] It's better.
