Earth? But, why, I've never heard of 'C.E.' There's a B.C. and an A.D., which is where I come from. 1893 A.D., to be exact. ... Does it change? Later?

1893. You must have been in for quite a culture shock.

And, yes. B.C. and A.D. still get used in common parlance, but academics use 'C.E.' for 'Common Era' and 'B.C.E.' for 'Before Common Era.' They're the exact same thing, though, I know because I taught an art history course not too long ago.

I feel a little foolish for not having realized. [ though, intelligent as she is, it's not as though she's had very much time for schooling. and this may be partly why she was so adamant about getting into school when she realized she would be able. ]

Art History? Do you suppose you'll take it up again here, too?

Probably not professionally. Might pick up the occasional book on it, or visit exhibits, but teaching doesn't have much appeal.
