I hope you're not planning to try and 'change the system' on the human trafficking market. It's bigger than something anyone here could change.

Did I say I was? I'm not a revolutionary, I'm a pirate. You of all people should know that, damn Croc.

Your leader is also prone to acts of heroism.

Luffy does what he does for his own reasons. The same can be said for all of us. It's not out of nameless moral outrage.

Or you could take economic necessity as the perfect excuse to quit the habit?

Quit smoking?

...why should I ever do that?

For your health?

I'm as healthy as they come. I'm far more likely to die of serious wounds than I am smoking.

[He cannot believe he just sat through listening to all of that. Though he had to admit, that last bit of the message was so Sanji-esque that Zoro would have grinned a bit. Except he doesn't. Suddenly, having the guy back didn't feel all that ... fancy. Suddenly.]

The place is no different from any of the islands we've docked at.

[But maybe it feels a little like home, hmm? A little?]

Idiot.

[oh no you are not ruining a good mood, marimo]

It is a little. Some things. But I guess some things are universal.

...

Do you really want to see me after I'm out of cigarettes? I don't think you want that.

Hmn.

[Stare.]

Are you gonna drop dead if you don't get some?

[... he ... sounds serious.]

More like I'm going to rip your head off if you so much as look at me funny.

Darling, I think you'll find that I personify everything a man could ever dream of.

[A pause.]

What is it with you pirates and tobacco anyways?

[completely not at all bothered by the green skin, nope. Exotic girls are exotic!]

Is that...? Why, Miss Ivy, you're every bit as beautiful as your voice led me to believe! ......everything?

[ahem]

I can't speak for other pirates, I picked up the habit quite young myself. I'm the only one in my crew who smokes, though.

[Those who say that it ain't easy being green were merely misinformed. She took the compliments in stride, as she played with a strand of her hair.]

Everything, dear. [Unless humility was one of your dream traits.]

But haven't you heard? Those things will kill you. Both you and the Crocodile seem to treasure your tobacco more than your own life, so it was merely an impression I gathered.

Yeah, so will swords, guns, and the right blow to the head. In my line of work I'm far more concerned about those than I am about cigarettes. You know, unless I choke on one in the middle of a fight.

I do hope this day finds you well, hmm?

So you all are really one crew of pirates...?

-- Ah. The crime and markets are pretty bad. It's mostly just - frustrating to hear about, though.

Mostly. Don't lump that damn Crocodile in with us, though.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not really bothered all that much by it, but when the only news a man can come by is bad news, it sort of sours a nice day.

Sir Crocodile, you mean? What's wrong with him?

Bad news is something the media here specializes in, it seems like.

Eh, had a run-in with him back home, a while ago. Nothing much, he just started a civil war in a small island nation for his own benefit. Really.

Bad news is always in high demand. Unless the papers here are in the habit of covering up anything that makes the government look bad, like back home.
