[there's a silence first :|]

-- It's kind of self-explanatory, isn't it?

It describes the day a person was born. Which day, which month, which year...

...You don't know what that means?

The day you... came to be? -- Wait, has anyone told you about the birds and the bees yet!?

It's a day that happens once a year where you get to have fun because it's your 'special' day. You usually get a big cake with lots of presents.

Big Bro Mello! [;w; ♥]

I knew about the cake because I saw some stuff outside of a window and I heard some people talking about birthdays! But when I asked someone on the street they just said, 'Everyone has birthdays' but I've never had cake and ribbons and balloons all at once and it looked really neat so I wanted to know what a birthday was and also how to get one.

[Leans forward, intently.] Guess what? Guess what?

Everyone automatically has one Noki, but if you don't know what your birthday is that's okay too. You can just pick a day to be yours and that'll be your birthday.

[Sounds amused.]

What Noki?

Big Bro Snake says I can have a birthday and- Umm, yeah! Yeah, he said the same things as Big Bro Mello! I can pick it for any day I want!

I don't know which day to pick yet but I'm turning twenty-six! That's what another big bro said. Will you came to my birthday?

I actually don't have a birthday. But if you're human then you probably have one. You just might not know when it is.

For humans, it's when once a year you celebrate having been alive for however many years you've been alive. So if you've lived ten years, then you celebrate your tenth birthday. And it just keeps going like that. The next year you celebrate your eleventh birthday, then twelveth, and on and on. Some people throw parties for their birthdays. Some just keep track of them on a calendar so they know how old they are.

Wow, wow! You know a lot about them! More than that other big bro!

Uwaa, I'm twenty-five! So I would count to twenty-five, right? How old will I be next?

I don't know that much. Really just what I learn from watching other people.

You're twenty-five? [Pause.] O...kay...

So then the next birthday would be twenty-six, I guess.

[:( she's probably only twelve, but she really doesn't have a clue. She only picked twenty-five because that's how old Edgeworth is!]

Okay! Do you want to come to my twenty-six [she definitely means 'sixth', but wouldn't know that] birthday, big bro?

The day you were born. The name speaks for itself.

Cute Big Bro Snake already told me about 'born!' He said everyone is born, but I think it might just be some people because I always remember being here and not somewhere before being here, but he says I can have a birthday anyway!

Nobody remembers their birth; people can't think back that far. What you feel is normal, all things considered, but I'm kind of wondering why no one explained all of this to you before. How old are you?
