I was wondering... What is it that reminds you of home? How do you cope with being away from the people that you know and the things that are familiar? Is there a certain flavour that takes you back, or a sound maybe, or do you surround yourself with things or people that are like the things and people you knew at home?

Nothing here reminds me of home, Sir Light. My home is one that is full of far more beautiful than this place has to offer, but I have grown to accept the fire that this city breeds to forge something lovely all the same.

My, so many questions. There is something from my world that is here and I can always feel his presence, but when he was not here ... I liked to be held. [Soft humming.] It eased all concerns that I might have had, at the very least. But I wonder if that will be able to help you much.

You liked...to be held? That's something, I guess.

[Very, very awkward. He steers away from his own feelings sharply.]

You said your world was beautiful. Would you mind telling me about it?

Mm. I suppose that I still like it.

[Laughs softly.]

I wouldn't mind at all. What would you like to know about it specifically? Every part of it is beautiful now, after all.

I think that's something few people really grow out of, is it? I'd hear stories of hardened criminals who couldn't stand to see their mother's faces, and burst into tears when they were held. No, I think right now--

[He trails off, silence falling as he shakes it off.]

Tell me about your home--the place where you were born, or the place you grew up.

I come from Tokyo, so having to move into another city is not a drastic alteration.

[ He paused. ]

Vending machines! They remind me of home.

It'd be hard to outdo Tokyo for vending machines, though, wouldn't it?

[Thoughtfully.] As a city, maybe it has some similarities in size and speed of living alone, but the food and the people are hard to ignore. It's just...foreign. Past the tall buildings, there's not much that's homely about it.

I agree.

[ He was still skeptical whether this guy is faking it or not. This new facade is less appealing. ]

Are you homesick, Light-kun?

[Lie and save face, or tell the truth and potentially look foolish. Answer: Be slightly evasive]

Let's say that if I'd been planning a holiday, this place wouldn't have been at the top of my list.

Homesickness now, is it?

[He isn't sure what he should say in reply to that, so the reply takes a while. When he does, it's private.]

How do you cope with it?

By keeping myself busy, but you should already know that. And you also know how to cope, don't you? I've noticed there were some things missing.

I asked to take them, but if you'd like them back then I'll bring them straight away.

[He had more to say on the subject, but isn't sure about sharing it yet.]

[Sup, bro, have your voice talking back to you.]

The only thing familiar here are the people, the fact that so many are from other worlds, honestly. Other than that, a city is a city. This one is just bigger than most that I'm used to.

...

[Alright, that's just creepy. Have him not get over it again, Riku, with much hesitation and just a touch of sarcasm.]

The cities you're used to are full of people with crazy superpowers then, I take it.

[If Riku knew, he'd be doing this: >:3c]

Actually, I'm used to normal worlds with people with very few supernatural abilities. Of course, that depends on your definition of "superpowers". Some people are just a little stronger than others, and others develop "superpowers" over time.

[Oh, he'll get there.]

But you're one of them, right? Not that there aren't people who can mimic other's voices naturally, but they're rarely so good.

A few small things remind me of home. There's a strip of shops that are a lot like Iwatodai Station back home. I guess...the monsters are the most familiar thing, unfortunately.

Iwatodai? I haven't heard of it.

Wait, you have these monsters at home?

It's in a city called Port Island. Iwatodai Station had a strip of a bunch of shops, from books to all sorts of food places. There was a beef bowl store and a takoyaki stand.

Mmhm. Not the same, of course, and they're gone now... But I guess the nightly dangers are more familiar to me than some of the other things here.

Really? I imagine they don't serve takoyaki in the shops here, do they?

When you say 'not the same', what do you mean?
