Right, so.. uhm, any of you ever passed somethin' by that reminded you of home? Today, I was out for breakfast and came across this little tiny bakery... I swear, they had cinnamon buns that smelled just like my Gran's.

Made me wonder how everyone back home's doin'... if they're missin' me and Sam.

[Here, have a teen boy pop up on video to this. Homesick. It pinged him.] I'm not dealing with it well myself. Getting over it maybe... or trying to.

[A pause...] Oatmeal. Um... a food trigger for home for me. Theres this place... in the underground that serves oatmeal at breakfast. Reminds me of how mom used to make it....

I'm sorry to hear that... how long have you been here?

[She smiles a little at that.] Mm, how do you fix your oatmeal? Me, I always like a little bit of sugar... maybe some fruit too.

Ummm 6 months or so? Got here in January just after the new year. Been away for a year now though...

[There is a pause again, leaning back against what looks like a old Car, a prop from the theater show. He's on break from work] Brown sugar, a bit of maple syrup and a bit of cinnamon. Heh, I guess I like it sweet.

Really? Where do you come from?

Mmm, maple syrup's real good in oatmeal. You ever try adding some apples in there? Works real well with cinnamon. [She shifts, like she's trying to get a closer look.]

Nice car... what's it for?

It seems, given the testimony of those who have come from the same locations one subsequent to the other, that they do not know.

Well, that's good to know at least... I'd hate to think people back home are worryin' about me as much as I'm worryin' about them...

You're not the first to say as much, and it is an equally foolish sentiment in this case. [A slight pause, and then, awkwardly:] If you will forgive my saying so.

What, are you sayin' you don't worry about people you knew back home?

I learned to cook 'cause I got homesick. It wasn't when I got yanked here, but it still works, I guess. Helps that I've got a couple friends here.

I can cook... not as good as my Gran, but I don't hear no complaints.

I don't know about homesickness- and I don't really remember anything that could be home, but...cinnamon buns sound great right now.

Where'd you find the bakery?

Really? You don't remember any place you grew up or nothin'? No special place?

I'll send you the address, okay?

[ A boy replies, about seventh-grade age. ]

I don't know if you ever deal with it, exactly. It just becomes part of your life.

And after awhile, there are things to look forward to here, too.

[they really did bring them here young, didn't they? But she smiles a little, giving a nod.]

You're right... I just gotta get used to it here. I'm sure there are a lotta things to look forward to!

You miss your friends and family though?

Yeah. But missing them isn't going to get me back to them any faster.

You have two choices: Find a way out of here or settle down and accept your fate.

You don't think it's possible to settle down and still look for a way out? I ain't ready to just give up yet, I don't think...
