Hypocrisy, Edgeworth. That's how this city punishes those kinds of transgressions. As long as the sytem stands, it's legal, and if Sam did it, you should be sending him down for it, no matter the punishment.

Is that so? Too bad--I've already decided to recind my offer, Edgeworth. You've made it clear that you abhor me.

It seems, then, that I am not the sole hypocrite in this conversation. I thought you would do anything to help this good man.

I will, but I never claimed that there was no flaw in your plan. Writing letters never gets anyone anywhere. Letters are not read, they are shredded and used as animal bedding. I will make far more progress in my own way, without you to hobble me with your morality.

For progress to be made, aggressive tactics must be employed.

You'll want to speak with "Big Boss," then. He's intent on violent action as well.

I said aggressive, not violent. Is it violent to corrupt an intelligence network? To destroy information being used against others?

Besides, Jack wants nothing to do with me, and I want nothing to do with him.

It is not violent, but it is illegal. This will be done legally.

It will take too long, and it will fail.

And tell me - what will your method accomplish?

The company will lose money and assets, its focus will drift from mundane suspicion and focus on itself; on more important things. Sam will go free. In its weakness, it will be fragile. An expose or two revealing the company's wishy washy pursuit of justice and the truth of slavery will cut it deeper. SERO will take advantage of its weakness and finish it off.

And it becomes clear that you lie even to yourself.

It is fact.

And tell me, by what mechanisms would these grandiose end results come about? By you deleting a bit of information?

By completely and irreversably destroying their logistics centre. Computers and computer networks; terminals, information, files, resources. Digital terrorism.

Of course. Because they, who are on the forefront of technology in this city, naturally have no back-ups. Honestly, the thought of detonating explosives under their headquarters sounds less foolish.

Of course they do. The only flaw with the plan is finding the backups and elliminating them first. It depends how well hidden, and well protected they are, especially considering that there are people whose powers are technologically based -- people who can hack with their minds and not their fingers. I wonder if it's even possible.
