Mm. I can't really find a safe definition of normal here anymore. It makes the asking a bit difficult--maybe even cynical in some ways.

Still. How is everyone holding up?

Being here might be normal for others and different for some.

Making 'normal' a pretty silly word to use in such a community. [sigh.] It's worth a shot, anyhow.

A community where people from different places are brought together. I'm already used to this kind of thing.

Got the one-up on us, mm? Now who would you be?

Healthy, maybe, instead of normal?

That might be better, perhaps. Either way...It's a question for you, too.

A question more for you. I'm doing fine; there weren't any problems on my end.

Ah, is that so? A good thing. One less person slowed up by this mess.

Did you have a definition before arriving here...? They always do seem to be broken, in one way or another.

Ah, that's...[a chuckle.] Well, perhaps there were two definitions. Our normal and their normal. Here, it's...a different normal for every other person, really.

That's true. And there's always something new to ruin the old "normal..."

But would you really call it cynical?

Well...in the cases of some, it would be cynical to even try to ask. Some here...this place is just too different to ever be normal.

Better than I was. Probably has somethin' to do with not bein' in my apartment anymore. Wish I could say the same for the club.

What about you? I heard you had a real rough time.

[a good-natured sigh.] Ah, well. I suppose I couldn't go long without a damsel-in-distress moment, no matter how I try.

Damages stacked up pretty high for you, I take it?

Seems to happen to everyone around here, given long enough. So don't worry too much about that part of it. Just keep focused on gettin' better. They let you out yet?

Can't tell you yet. I've been pretty much hidin' out at Edgeworth's the past few days - haven't had the heart to go look the place over. But I've got people who're supposed to send me a message tonight about the estimates. I do know the windows are fine, since we replaced 'em with high quality stuff after that last bit of trouble.

I'll just end up suckin' it up and dropping by tomorrow, given we're openin' back up again on Friday, Lord willin' and the creek don't rise.

Out and about...straight to the sofa. [a little deadpan. then a sigh.]

That's pretty poor luck on your part, Sam. You worked hard on all that, didn't you? I'm sorry how things turned out.

Well we're alive, right?

It's true; sometimes that's hardly enough of an indicator, though.

I think if you can still say, 'Yeah, I'm alive,' it's an indicator that things aren't as bad as they could be.
