[Today you seem to be looking down at Larry from above - probably because he's just stretched out on his bed, the NV raised up high to record him. Before he speaks, a black kitten, bigger and considerably healthier than the last time she was seen over the network wrecking Larry's supposed "NV show", suddenly jumps up onto his bed, climbs onto his ( Read more... )

If something bad has happened not remembering it could help, like people that get amnesia.

[ Just a thought ]

But no. I used to wish I did but it's hard enough being able to use mine and some people's are even harder than that. [ Plus she liked it ]

...I dunno, for one thing I'd have to know how to choose which memories I can erase. And it only happens temporarily. And, I feel like I'd be barging into people's lives.

What's your power?

You could learn. Everyone has to learn how to use it.

Intangibility.

I'm trying! But I think I need more than just practice.

...wait, intangi-what? [He pauses for quite a while to think.] You can turn invisible?

You can make people forget? But I think that'd be a very useful power!

[ or annoying... ]

Useful how? I just end up confusing people and messing things up... [Larry has annoyed three people - girls, even - and that's three too many.]

This is just something Sensei told me, but... For example, you could make somebody forget their plan to murder or steal, and then you'd be a hero! Right? Used carefully, you could make people lose their ability to do a lot of important things, too. People couldn't charge you for overdue library books, perform life-saving surgeries, remember their lines for their stage debut...

Yeah, but...first I'd have to figure out how to control what I erase, and I dunno if I could even erase things as big as those! Besides, it seems kinda unfair...

You couldn't choose what power you have, though! So you shouldn't feel bad about it.

But I...I want to use it! I just don't know how!

You know, as far as powers go, it could be worse.

...y-you mean like touching people and they drop dead? I think I'd take making people forget over that any day.

[Wow, Larry, way to inject this conversation with a tone of pessimism right from the very start! She'd been thinking of her own power when she'd made that remark, but now she is thinking of all the worst possibilities.]

... Why, yes, that's one example. But what I meant is that your power can be put to some positive use.

I've been told I could make criminals forget what crimes they're about to commit and stuff like that, yeah...but still, messing around with memories seems kinda wrong.

Like...I'm reaching into a cookie jar that someone told me not to touch.
