[A short click is heard, a low buzz of whatever frequency is being picked up on the Network - a sound all are probably familiar with. But that breaks up into pixelated noise. What was once a triumphant teenage voice yelling something with giddy success quickly turns into jumble of teeth-chattering vowels.]

-COLD!

[There's a thump. The voice

I...don't know. I'm just out here. Somewhere. And it's cold.

[Pause. He looks at the sky. Or whatever he can see of it.]

Daylight. I think.

Why is it so important to get inside- why are you yelling at me???

Because there's some freaky stuff going on right now, and you'll get sick!

... I didn't mean to yell, though.

Yeah, that- that's fine, I get yelled at a lot. But you're right, I should get inside anyway. Even with all that's been said.

[The good thing about never really sticking to a discernible sleeping pattern was getting to see how the city worked at any and every given moment. Most people only saw life happen during a standard set of hours, but Axel has seen Port life at every hour, and he had to admit that those lesser-populated ones were preferable to him. It was a lot easier to handle life when you weren't crowded, after all. Mornings were less busy than afternoons, and so when wakefulness strikes him that morning he decides maybe it's a good time to mosey.

[He isn't expecting to find a sopping wet kid in the middle of the street. Granted, he would have been surprised to find a sopping wet kid anywhere, considering it isn't raining. But being sopping wet in this weather probably isn't in the kid's best interests. How interesting~ he wonders what happened? Shoving his hands in his pockets, Axel approaches the boy and gives him a curious look.]

Well I'll be damned; and here I thought It's Raining Men was just a song.

[Being sopping wet is sort of normal for him, and it was fine when the sopping wet was still a part of the lake he got thrown into in the first place. But right now he's still feeling cold. He really should get inside.

But hey. This guy is probably the first one who has approached him (besides the greeters? Maybe?) in person. Hiccup still holds onto the rock as he glances at the Eighth, giving him a look.]

And what's that suppose to mean??

[got_it_memorizd]

[Axel holds his hands up--I'm unarmed, see?--and then points one index finger skyward.] Well it's not raining rain. [A shake of his head then, as if to say never mind, and he folds his arms.] And yet here you are.

[There's a beat of silence, and Axel examines his fingernails briefly, a thin yet mostly benign smile crossing his lips.] Might wanna dry off; you'll catch your death out here that way. [His eyes find the boy's again.] I could lend you a hand, if you want. [He supposes one freebie won't kill him, and the kid really does look pretty damn cold.]

[Hiccup follows the pointed finger upward, frowning a little as he nods wearily.] Yeah, okay, point.

[Even though Axel is saying this in the most normal of tones, the wording of the sentence and the way it is said adds another chill to Hiccup's spine. His mouth presses into a thin line at first.]

...It doesn't sound...bad. B-but how exactly would you do that?

I think some people are doing that already, but...well. I guess warmer would be better. Beats being in this right now.
