This is not actually Canada; that's just the nearest country any of the Newcomers have heard of. We're on an island off the Canadian shore. The laws are roughly based on Canadian law, but definitely distinct -- slavery is legal here, for example.
Are you all right? There's a clinic for Newcomers, if you're feeling unwell. The process of arriving here makes many of us feel unwell.
