this dragon doesn't have a clue as to what . . . this fish is doing. here comes another curious close up of his eye-- one huge eye, while he's smelling and exhaling at the camera until the lens fog up. ]

[ ahh- there she was! but it was strange-- she wasn't like any kind of human he's seen ( actually . . . he's only really been in contact with one up close back home! ). the dragon blinks, then squints at terezi. were those really horns? and teeth?

toothless tilts his head again and gives a questioning grumble.

really! really now! this kind of piques his interest-- because no one's ever referred to them as such-- at least as far as he knew! ]

[Living on an island whose economy is driven primarily fishing? Well... Sora's picked up some habits.]

[It means, on occasion, Sora likes to pack certain things for lunch. Like halibut, or mackerel or tuna. This particular day, he's enjoying a tuna melt sandwich (Kairi makes the best ones) as he sits at the edge of the field. When Toothless shows up, Sora hops to his feet and hastily stuffs the sandwich and its wrapping back into the pack on his side. Time for Greeter duties. Here's to hoping this one can talk.]

[ sooner or later toothless would notice the approaching guest, and when he does-- he freezes. his tail flicks, he lowers his head, and gives a deep growl. ]

the teeth he was baring retreat, the only thing now visible are toothless gums. he didn't see any point weapons or blunt object that he could get attacked with, so the dragon squints, then he relaxes-- sort of. he's still maybe just a little tense.

at this point in canon, toothless wasn't really named toothless at this point . . . so maybe a nickname will do, sora? ]

[Nelliel recognizes behaviour like that. There are multiple cats in her household, including a set of pink ones that can move at superhuman speeds.

As such, she's made it a habit to keep a laser pointer on hand. The cats all seem to like chasing the little red dot. Maybe the dragon will feel the same if he's feeling playful?]

[ if nelliel has one at hand . . . and while toothless is distracted by his floating fish to pay attention-- she should give it a try! :) ]

[Nelliel gives the laser pointer a jingle to get the dragon's attention, then shines the red dot on the ground near him.]

[ at the sight of her, toothless stops. he stops, and he quickly observes. does she have any sharp objects on her? identifiable weapons? swords, knives, clubs, the works-- ]

this is strange and kind of startling because she just kind of flashed onto the screen. it was surprising! unexpected! causing him to tense, curling his upper lip to hiss at her just as suddenly as the video feed appeared. ]

[She makes a short pause. She must be insane for trying to speak to him, but she has seen weird creatures before.]

[ silence, and a quick shake of his head. or was he just shooing a pesky insect away? either way, question answered-- no, no he cannot. ]

[He remembers this dragon, but he decides not to say anything. He wouldn't want Toothless to feel too overwhelmed with people. But seeing the playful behaviour gets an almost-smile out of Hitsugaya that no one sees.]
