So I realized a while ago I never knew the Earth turns.

[A pause.]

Do you think it's too late in the year to start going to school?

This Earth does. Who knows about the others?

[ To answer her question, though... ] I think it would be a better idea to enroll during the next semester. Christmas break will be coming up soon, anyway.

Well, some of them probably do, right?

Do they let you do that?

Probably.

I don't see why they wouldn't. Though if you didn't feel comfortable going to a normal school, maybe you could start taking up lessons out of class.

People say the people at the schools aren't very nice to Newcomers, but I think I would be okay! And I could always stop if I don't like it.

I suppose, it just seems like a waste of time. Here, anyway.

I don't think it's a waste of time! I mean, lots of people do it.

School is out for the holiday season starting next week, but you can probably enroll to go when the year starts up again in January.

So it's okay to start later than most people?

Yeah. I think they're used to that happening here, with the newcomers and everything. I started school at a weird time, too.

[Oh. Hello.]

Miss Ahiru, what is it you thought the sun and moon were doing?

[To prepare gourmet roast duck stuffed with pork and ginger: 1) Preheat the oven to 300°F with one rack in the middle and one rack in the lower third. 2) Place a baking pan (larger than the duck) on the lower rack. 3) Remove giblets from the duck and cut into 1/4-inch dice...]

I don't know, but it didn't seem like it was the Earth that was moving!

Are you also aware that the Earth revolves around the sun?

[4) Pour milk in a flat 8-inch square dish and put in 4 slices of bread, turning each slice once, to absorb all of the milk. 5) Tear bread to pieces in a bowl and add giblets, pork, cilantro, ginger, garlic, egg, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Mix together with your hands to combine all ingredients evenly. (This is very important.)]
