[What catches Ayanami's attention is the single wing. His immediate thought is that of a one winged Kor, which makes no sense to him as he's quite sure he hasn't made any since his arrival. But no, he realizes this isn't a Kor. The wing is feathered, like an angel's, instead of bony like a Kor's.]

Where I come from, half a pair of wings means half a soul.
