[[OOC, Optional Mini- Event: Today is All Soul's Day / Day of the Dead! And you might be catching little glimpses of some familiar people in and around the island today, shadows and imprints of past denizens of Siren’s Port, projected as semi-transparent reflections by the Core. You'll see them here and there out of the corners of your eye, wandering you off of the beaten path, only to disappear as soon as you get close enough to confront them face to face. They will not respond if you call, and will appear to be going about ‘daily business’ , more likely to be found around their old haunts. The Newcomer Tower Apartments will be especially full of these impressions, many of which you may not even recognize, generations of newcomers past.
Please Note: Only people who have been in the Port at some point will be seen This applies to played characters who have died or disappeared, as well as any NPC locals who have died.]]

- Belly Up To The Bar: AGI Lawyers Prepare For Liquor Control Board Hearing
The preliminary hearing in the case of the City of Siren's Port vs. Afterglow, Inc. will take place Thursday, November 3rd at 1:00 PM. City prosecutors are once again taking the megacorporation to task for allegedly breaking the law, this time accusing AGI of mishandling their enforcement of city liquor laws.
Representing the city will be Newcomer prosecutor Diego Armando, who most will remember from the landmark case of several months ago that forced AGI to clean up their act with regards to the slavery system. Armando did not return our phone calls or otherwise comment, but it is fair to speculate whether or not the Newcomer David will be able to strike another deadly blow against the AGI Goliath.
AGI will once again be defended by the company's expert legal team, and head attorney Fletcher Malkins released the following statement on behalf of the company:
"AGI has been more than willing to take on the difficult challenges of liquor control, and to tighten regulations to a stronger public standard. This case is nothing but the outcry of struggling whiners who can't stay above the water in the demands of a challenging business economy, trying to overturn our responsibility on behalf of all the weasels trying to squirm out of sticking to policy. AGI will hold our own businesses accountable, and holds the same expectations of every small establishment under our new jurisdiction."
- Reports of Halloween Horrors Continue
The body of Carina Jacobs was found this morning in Sector One, drained of blood with two obvious puncture wounds on her neck.
Carina, 13, was spending her first Halloween out with her friends. One of her friends admits that they were breaking curfew and sneaking out after siren because they did not get as much candy as they wanted, intended to sneak into an Underground Mall club, when Carina started acting strange and said she wanted to speak with another individual down the street. Her friends did not think anything of it until she never returned home.
"I didn't get a good look at his face," one friend that did not want to be identified told reporters. "But he was really pale, and had this really pretty white hair. He was dressed like those really old vampires from Europe and stuff, but I think he actually was one. Really!"
Police are still investigating, but given the problems with enchanted costumes this Halloween, it's difficult to say for certain if this was a real vampire attack, or someone caught up in their costume. Investigators are asking anyone that was dressed as a vampire to come forward with any information they may have.
The President of the Sanguinarian Society was available for brief comment on the incident, insisting that those who consume blood in this city for sustenance or pleasure should do so under consensual respect for boundaries only, refraining from criminal predatory behaviors, particularly on minors.
- Batman Returns? Suspect Arrested in Gruesome Killings!
A suspect wanted for questioning in the murders of Miss Himawari Kunogi, and SERO scientist Ethan Phillip (details of which were kept exceptionally quiet since his death in the early morning of October 29th in his lab in Sector 8) was arrested last night after being supposedly confronted by the vigilante Batman. Several police officers corroborate this story, claiming to have seen the cowled man, though reports have up until very recently suggested that he was dead.
The suspect, whose name is claimed to be only 'Sylar', is dark haired, and gives off an ill feeling to anyone who looks him in the eye, or so notes this reporter. There is still no word on the purpose behind these vicious killings, however some (colleagues of the late Dr. Phillip at SERO) suspect that the suspect is a power thief of some kind, given the nature of the late scientist's power, and blood data gathered at the scene of Mr. Sylar's most recent crime.
Due to the common phenomena of Newcomers disappearing before they can face proper justice, prosecutors have asked for an expedient court date in order to remind Newcomers that they too are subject to the full weight of the law here in the city, and no crime - especially murder - will be tolerated.
Mr. Sylar himself is reported to be extremely quiet, unflustered by efforts to convince him to cooperate. He is expected to plead guilty, though the exact details of such a plea are unclear, and can only be guessed at at this time. An insanity plea is of course possible, and if City vs. Joker and City vs. Hanniger - two high focus Newcomer insanity plea cases - are to be cited as examples, then the final result is anyone's guess.
