[This time there's an image to go with the calm voice.  A young woman, still wearing a school uniform, with long red hair is addressing her NV.]

I would like to thank everyone that assisted me when I arrived here.  This place is far from welcoming, and it is a genuine relief to see that I will not have to deal with the challenges completely on my ( Read more... )

For all that we are captives, we indeed find ourselves in need of creating a new life here. There is a certain amount of help begrudgingly offered - you sit in one such artifact of that help, and at times food is made available, as is education to young people - but you must in this place indeed care for yourself.

You made it to safety without incident, I hope?

So the assumption is that we will be here for the long term. Education?

I did, thank you. I believe I recognize your voice from the messages I received while I was getting to the towers.

That is the assumption, yes. Many of us have been here a number of months. But yes; the education, from what I understand, is far from exemplary, but nevertheless, tuition is at times waived.

But yes. I'm not sure if I introduced myself - my name is Miles Edgeworth. If ever you find yourself in peril of any sort, call out; other newcomers monitor the networks to ensure that no one is stranded.

Months? Yes, that would qualify as long term. It appears I'll have to make arrangements. Even if it is far from exemplary, it would be for the best to make the most of my time here, and that would include education. I will have to look into my options.

It is a pleasure to meet you, Edgeworth-san. I will be sure to keep that in mind, should I be caught out after sunset again.

People are mostly finding jobs, places to stay, and ways to keep themselves safe. Newcomers get a month in the starter apartments and then they have to make their way on their own.

It looks like I will need to make arrangements for myself. A month is not much time to locate employment and a new place to live. Thank you, Riku.

There's plenty of people here who can help you. There's a place for you to get food and clothes, too, until you have the money to pay for them.

I'm starting to believe that finding a source of income will be a high priority.

[YOU. ARE. SO. CUTE~]

Nice to meetcha, Kirijo-san. I'm Ushiromiya Battler and arrived yesterday. Trying to build a new life here doesn't sound so bad because nobody seems to know why we're here or what exactly brought us. So for the time being, why not live a little?

A pleasure, Ushiromiya-san.

I think I would rather put my time to good use. I have heard that education is a possibility, so I will be looking into that, as well as where I will be staying once my grace period is up.

Just Battler is fine.

So you're one of those smart girls, huh? You're still in high school, right, judging by your uniform. What year are you in?

'One of those'? I'm not sure what you're referring to. I'm actually graduating, Ushiromiya-san. I would be looking at colleges or universities in the area.

Ah! Hello, Miss Kirijo Mitsuru, it is a pleasure indeed to make your rather belated acquaintance! I am Suou Tamaki, king of the hosts, but in the absence of all hosts, I have been acting as a greeter and a model while here in the city! I suppose since there are no hosts, it is rather unnecessary to continue to use the title... But it's such a lovely title!]

Ah, anyways! I am only sorry that I was not able to properly greet you upon your arrival. Truly, a tragedy! I would have been able to tell you all about the great and wonderful things here in Siren's Port! But such is life, that two souls such as ourselves could be kept apart at such a crucial time! I would have greeted you properly; I would even have served tea.... Ah, cruel fate!

But I can make up for my laxness! I can greet you right now!

Hello, welcome, and so on! As for jobs, there are a great many things that you can do! Do you have any special skills, besides looking quite lovely under such tragic circumstances? Truly, your beauty is striking even in dire times such as these! It is rather flustering, even for one so accustomed to loveliness as myself! Truly, you must understand the effect that you have! But you cannot be asked to hide away such beauty--I suppose you must encourage it, or else do the world a great disservice indeed!

[Annnnnd staring at you.]

A pleasure to meet you, Suou-san. Most of my experience is in the realm of business. I have been helping to run the Kirijo group since my father passed away.

That's how most people go about it, if you want to call it a 'life', though I guess there are worse places to be found in other dimensions. [Yeah, gotta get used to the fact that there are multiple worlds. It's getting easier.

...And he notices, in passing, that she's kinda pretty -- and young.]

You're still going to school?

I will have to apologize, I'm still getting used to the idea of multiple dimensions. But if we are here, we will have to manage until a solution can be found.

I'm actually graduating, but I may consider applying to a local college or university, if I am to be trapped here.

Yeah, the solution-finding is just taking a while. At this rate, you'll be here a while...I've been for over two months, now. And I suppose continuing your studies is the best you can do. I'm a little jealous.

I've heard from several people that have been here for months. It appears I will be settling in for an extended stay.

Jealous? May I ask why?
