Hexa-Virus To Blame: Bonnefoy Acquitted
The trial for the murder of three in the Underground Mall late last month was held yesterday afternoon. The defense argued during the trial that Bonnefoy had shown no ill intent in his eight months of residence before the Hexa-Virus erupted in Siren's Port, barring one incident in the Tower Apartments late last March involving AGI and SERO employees and a frying pan. The jury seemed split on the issue, spending almost an hour in the chambers before announcing their decision.
Francis Bonnefoy, the accused, was unanimously pronounced 'not guilty', although this reporter noticed the three men in the jury glaring at the nine women on the jury, all of whom seemed to be making eyes at the defendant. Bonnefoy might have also been found not guilty of damages to the Mall, but he was quick to admit he was quite guilty of damages and was willing to pay for the damages, despite his attorney's wishes.
Mothers Against Newcomers was picketing the courthouse during the trial, and were quick to shout and throw things at Bonnefoy as he was being brought out of the courthouse. Bonnefoy did have a few choice words to say to the group of MAN protesters, most of which were angrily shouted in French and were not suitable for print.
While Kyoji Kasshu was also to have a trial yesterday for reckless endangerment of powers, his trial was mysteriously cancelled and he was released. Rumor has it that SERO was quick to step in to cover his tracks, being moderately affiliated with SERO through Violet Systems. Kasshu does appear to have been dropped from Violet Systems, so it is still just a rumor. No one was available for comment.

In response to Friday’s EMP disaster and the resultant chaos, Governor Townshed says that the new backup sirens are a high priority right now, having contracted SERO to place them on an infallible generator system. However, AGI is currently looking for powerful enchanters to install a magic-based backup siren system for use in their own sector, one which does not require electrical current at all for reliable operation, criticizing a technology-bent infrastructure rather than relying on other viable powers at thand. Others are concerned that magical devices may be corrupted by prolonged exposure to the darkness decay, more susceptible than electrical ones.
