[His eyes widen as the venom begins to take. His face pales, his chest begins to heave-- but it won't last long, he knows, and so tries to stumble to his feet.]

[Joker pulls his revolver out and presses it to the top of Jack's head, without pulling the trigger.]

A kid who can take my knife to the gut and not die!? Now that's funny.

[He cocks the hammer.]

You gonna shoot me?

[There's already a grin forming on his face, and Jack bites his lip hard, trying to fight it. Only a few more seconds and he'll be fine, he knows it.]

Not real funny, is it?

[A giggle escapes him.]

[He dies quickly. The bullet passes through his brain, killing him instantly, a twisted smile on his face.

The gun was close enough that the bullet passed straight through his skull, lodging in the ground below. It's because of this that Jack revives precisely six minutes after the Joker shot him. With a gasp, he sits up, his hands brushing his forehead.

He looks horrified-- but then scrambles to his feet, his fingers scrabbling for the second of his three knives.]

[Joker is sitting against the wall of the alley, the gun still trained on Jack. And he's smirking.]

So you die and get up. Over and over again.

[He slowly lowers the knife.]

[Joker braces himself and catches Jack, grappling him and clenching the wrist of his knife-wielding hand tightly]

I daresay! There's a tyke tryin' ta do me in!

Think you really can, sweetheart? Can you make the big, bad clown dead?

[He snarls, his wrist shaking, his free hand scrabbling on his wrist, trying to grab his third knife.]

[He throws Jack against the wall and pins him, arm braced against the young man's throat.]
