001 (Video) Backdated to before sirens

[This is no accidental feed you're seeing. Oh no, this is deliberate. The adolescent girl onscreen is typing furiously, so clearly you're seeing her broadcasting from a computer. Behind her is a really confused Greeter trying to get her attention, but she ignores them, more focused on her work, and eventually said Greeter just takes to staring. I ( Read more... )

[Computer noises heard, clearly that means time to check the network. After watching all of that, the girl's reappearance on the network later draws a reply.

While she looks pissed, he looks awfully amused.]

Oh dear. Having troubles getting in to see the Core?

Oh, is that what they're calling it? Not very creative, if you ask me.

Perhaps not, but that's the name I've been told.

Did you actually make it into the facility?

The facility?! I didn't even make it five feet from the baseball diamond before they threw me out. [And screaming "I NEED AN ADULT" in a girly little voice SO doesn't have the effect that it used to, man.]

[Reim comes on and obviously looks concerned.]

Is everything alright?

It would be if those idiots hadn't thrown me out just when I was about to make some progress.

[She stamps her foot. Yep. She's totally 20,000 years old.]

Perhaps they didn't want you searching for something? Some people and organizations are really private about things here.

[Sing-song] Old men are so fond of their secrets. [She giggles] I'll just have to try harder.

They consider themselves to be the foremost authority.

Did they tell you about this place, what it is?

What d'you take me for? Some sort of amateur? [GLEEFUL] I did all the research myself!

Ah, the enterprising type.

You are taking the change in location rather well.

Oh, you know how it goes. One day you're sitting in your transdimensional lab and then you accidentally pull the wrong wire- and oops! Sudden alternate dimension. Normally, it'd be a snap to get back to my own universe, but this one seems to be one way.

[And she does not seem a bit concerned about it.]

[Well, hello there, soul mate! //SHOT]

[Szayel's face comes on the screen, looking bored, but there's a hint of amusement on his face from your video. He's at work, so the end results of MAD SCIENCE can easily be seen behind him.]

Mundane creatures such as humans are unappreciative of a proper scientist's work. You'll find that occurring often here.

[OOOH SCIENCEY CRAP. See Washu press her face up close to the screen.]

Hmmm. I'll say. That lab wouldn't even be approved by the Science Academy's rejects.

[Ah, the dick measuring of geniuses.]

[SOB, he knows.]

You don't need to tell me this. This miniscule attempt at a lab is not even half the size of my lab back home.

[Home being the original Las Noches.]

You're not kidding. I can't even work up a decently sized subspace dimension in the closet of these apartments and the Core fluctuations make it impossible to stabilize.

[FELLOW MAD SCIENTIST--well okay, the 'mad' is a little debatable in Otacon's case.]

It overloaded your system, really?

Well, something did. It was either the Core or those jerks that tossed me out. I haven't felt that blind since... [Well, since Kagato locked her up, but... She isn't going to talk about that, so she just grins and sing-songs.] Never mind~

[Moving on]

Anyway, I couldn't really get close enough to the Core to do a complete scan. [She clasps her hands together and her voice goes sugary sweet.] But I'm sure there has to be someone who get me in to see it up close~

[Hint. Hint.]

I'm not too sure if I could, myself. [Which was true--though he thought maybe with a little effort he might be able to, that was nothing even remotely definite.]

I've been told it's mechanical in nature and that's generally all I know. Unfortunately.

[POUT] Well, there's only one way to find out. [LOOK, AT THIS FACE, OTAKON. DON'T YOU WANNA HELP HER OUT?]

Mechanical, huh? That implies manmade and this is definitely an alternate earth, so if it was natural, it'd be an organic lifeform. [She groans and then yells.] I NEED TO GET IN TO SEE IT!
