[The video feed starts with a screen of bright blue; one that only shows itself to be something other than a technical error when a wisp of white rare to the sky today peeks into view. The microphone rumbles with the breeze whipping across it. After a moment of this, things seem to calm, and the camera is turned on Kazuhiko's face

He heads to the room without a thought, hoping that's where the man is and that he hasn't just gone wandering.]
Kazuhiko Amamiya.
[His voice could probably chill a fire.]

[He shakes his head slowly.] I'm not. I helped you because you are a friend, and one that needed help. And because I was worried for you. For all of you. But that's selfishness, not kindness. I didn't want to lose you and I didn't like to see you suffering.

Who told you that protecting and wishing to prevent suffering is selfish? [Now he has a bit of a worried expression.]

Nobody. For most people, acts of kindness are wrapped in selfishness. They do them because it makes them feel good to. It eases their guilt, boosts their ego, and lessens the amount of unhappy things around them. There are very few people who are kind for kindness' sake.
It's not a bad thing. That type of selfishness helps more than any other. But in my case... my reasons for helping you were entirely selfish. Because there are people in that body I wish to keep happy.

In your body... there is somebody I love, somebody I consider a friend, and somebody that I have recently met whom I have already become fond of. I don't want to lose any of them. Those are plenty of reasons, aren't they?

Liquid Snake, you... are quite an amazing person.

[Wait what.]
What do you mean, Kazuhiko?

You're a good person, and one who is good for its own sake. Of course I'm going to think highly of you.
Reply
I'm not a good person for the sake of being good. Though I'm not exactly angry that it comes off that way.
Reply
Whatever your reasons, you're one of the few people I don't believe has any bad intentions. That's a rarity.
Reply
My good intentions have still ended in people losing their lives, so it's hard for me to think of them as good.
Reply
That doesn't make them anything else but good intentions. Even if they turn out badly.
