I try to have nothing to do with him if I can. [And he's kind of bothered to find out that Yako knew him, but it doesn't seem like she was drawn into Izaya's traps or anything, so that's good.] Maybe he really is gone then...

Of course it bothered me. I guess it's just sometimes easier to blame it on this city, rather than admit the fact that we can't help everyone.

It is the city's fault, but there has to be some reason behind it, right? Kids don't just start killing each other and themselves like this.

[Here's a voice that sounds eerily familiar, Shizuo. Nearly identical, if not for the calm smoothness Naoya talks with.]

It's a tragedy, to be sure. I suppose it's a symptom of something deeper wrong in this place.

...Izaya...for Isaiah. I can't say I've ever heard of him. [He's torn between amusement and annoyance at the name.]

[At first, he think that Izaya's here to rub everything in, but Shizuo soon realizes that that's not the case. This person sound similar, but Izaya always gets that annoying sing-songy tone to his voice when he's bothering him.

Shizuo takes a moment to calm down before replying.]

Yeah, well, we should figure out what the hell it is since stuff like that shouldn't keep happening.

You're better off for not knowing him. Believe me.

[There's a pause, as if Naoya's considering something.]

That's easy. The people here are as trapped as we are. Not all of them can pretend to be alright with only seeing this place their entire lives.

...Perhaps they resent the newcomers for the fact we have even a possibility of leaving.
