[Kadaj is in the sanctuary when Liquid gets there. He doesn't try to avoid or resist the hug, but neither does he reciprocate it. In fact, beyond his fists clenching and his jaw tightening, he doesn't move at all.

It's extremely unusual for Kadaj to hold back his emotions, to say the least. But these are unusual circumstances.]

Weeks without a kind touch, separated from his brother, while AGI slavers attempted to break his spirit. He's leaning against Liquid slightly, and presses his face against the man's shoulder.

Liquid wasn't angry with him, even though the last time they'd spoken it had ended in an argument over his decision not to get involved with the attempt to free Yaha. Kadaj had been spiteful, called him a coward. Told him they didn't need his help, that he should just wait and they would bring Yaha back themselves.

[Liquid brought a hand up to affectionately stroke fingers through Kadaj's hair, not loosening the hug. No, he wasn't angry. Not at Kadaj. Not ever at Kadaj, not really.

Those words had hurt more than he would ever admit, bit deep at the core of him. But after the anger had faded, after Kadaj had not returned... there had been nothing but guilt and self-hatred. Being human meant being weak and that was reprehensible. He needed to be stronger.]

[It was nice, and even Kadaj hadn't realised just how much he had missed this. Liquid's touch, the feel of him, his scent, the sound of his voice. Things that had at some point become synonymous with comfort. Finally, he lifts his arms, wrapping them around the man's waist, clinging like the child he was.]

Stay here. [It's not a question, but neither is it as demanding as it would once have been.]

[There's a feeling of relief at Kadaj's returned embrace even as concern fills him. So many confused feelings. He continues his soothing gestures, affectionate and loving. There was no way he'd be leaving him alone for a while.]
