I've noticed. We're good enough to serve, but not good enough to have a say in who runs the place. It's a bit depressing.

[A chuckle.] I've managed to get myself a position with the city's urban development office. It's the best way I know to serve; I'm not quite cut out for police work. [Says the man who runs a planet-wide militia. Still, once a bureaucrat, always a bureaucrat.]

Can you say you're surprised? Throughout history the conquerors have let the conquered lend their bodies as fodder.

[Wolf is on his way home from work at the butcher shop, carrying a small plastic bag full of leftover cuts of meat-- his "bonus," as it were. He is more than a little bit excited about it, enough so that he almost doesn't notice the extremely bizarre and familiar scent he catches on his way through the crowd... and he's singing, too.]

Ohhhh~ shepherdess makes quite a mess... but little lambs are lovely...

... Huh?

/SHAKES WITH EXCITEMENT

[Bigby actually notes the smell of meat under the hot sun before he notices Wolf, strong even despite his perpetual cloud of nicotine. He wrinkles his nose and wonders what sad little side cart is out today when he catches the other scent -

- and comes to a stop, turning around with a narrowed, searching look. Werewolf? He's run into one or two of them already here... But this is a little different, isn't it?]

[sheepworrying]

[Yes. There it is. As obvious to him as a neon sign would be to a human, Wolf can smell the scent of a wolf. And he can tell exactly where it's coming from.

He stops in his tracks and looks instantly at Bigby, a little ways up the street, looking a cross between surprised and dumbfounded.]

[Bigby meets the look, and slowly his head lowers. His eyes narrow.

Staring him down.

There's a slight lip curl - just enough to show teeth - before he deliberately crosses the street. Back off, cub.]

I hope you mean a promotion and not a mini-skirt.

I hope so too. I don't exactly have the legs for it.

Mm, I don't know. You wouldn't look any less threatening than an Anglo-Saxon in a skirt, and I assure you, far more terrifying than any Norman. Besides, it might make running after criminals more...interesting.
