H-Hello? Can anyone hear me? Oh, this is absolutely mad.

[ susan's breath hitches and she sighs loudly as she starts moving, heels clicking against the floor as she paces. ]

This can't be happening. This cannot possibly be real. [ but, as she trips slightly and lets out a small 'ow!' it becomes very clear that this isn't, actually, a dream. and ( Read more... )

[ FAKE ENGLISH ACCENT: ]

Well, I pull off a pretty good impression of an Englishman.

[ slight snort of amusement. except it's not really a snort because that wouldn't be very lady-like or polite. ]

There's a lot more to it than the accent.

[ CRINGING ]

I think I would take more comfort in someone not trying quite as hard.

I've been informed of a lot since I arrived. I'm afraid I'm not sure how I would begin to summarize.

I'm not sure I'd be able to really stomach anything at the moment, but it would be helpful for the future.

I'm sorry. I don't even know what to say. I've only been here a week so I don't have many answers yet.

It's the thought that counts, I suppose.

I have heard that time flows differently, outside of Siren's Port than it does inside the barrier. Some say that we return to the same time where we left off.

A few other people have said similar things. Does no one know for certain?

Most people who leave here do not return to tell the tale. Those that do, do not always remember having been here.

But one does wonder where the rumors come from.

That sounds rather ominous.

[ It's only when the general confusions has ceased, and the quiet has returned that Aslan will choose to appear.

There is no thunderclap to announce his coming, nor a herald to pave the way; just himself, and the breath of summer his presence always brings.

Wherever she may be, Aslan will be there. ]

[ she starts when he appears and takes a moment to just stare. there's no mistaking it, that's really aslan. and really, that's the final straw for susan. with so many people telling her that, yes, everything is real, she'd begun to doubt herself, just a little.

which was really sort of problematic, considering that if she accepted that all of this was real, she had no real way to deny narnia's existence anymore. and that threw all of the last few years into confusion.

her head hurts. susan looks away and squeezes her eyes shut, at a loss for words. ]

[ The times have changed, and though Aslan is from Susan's past and she from his future, somehow he still knows. The seed of fear (of doubt) was there, and left on its own, it flourished.

It breaks his heart to see her so, but even now there is anger -- not for the things she's said, nor for the things she's done. There's no rebuke in his greeting, either -- only an invitation. ]

Susan.

[ his voice is the same as it used to be. how many times, after her second trip to narnia, did she hope to hear that voice again? but it never came.

still, there's no denying now that everything she'd turned away from was real. that she was wrong for so long. that he's really here now, the way he used to be when she did believe. and she can only think of one thing to ask. ]

Why? [ why is she here? why did things turn out the way they did? why wasn't she strong enough? why did she have to lose absolutely everything?

why isn't he angry with her? ]
