Contact Twenty One [ Video ]
[The video feed turns on to show Raul Creed at, once again, his desk in his office at Lion's Gate. A full glass of wine is to the side, and he is leaning back in his chair rather comfortably.]
It was not my intention to ride on the heels of another, but seeing as today is a rather special day, I suppose I can make an exception. One year today I arrived in this city, bruised, tired, and extremely annoyed. Upon my arrival, there was only a few things I could note:
"Siren’s Port. A grotesque name for an even more grotesque city. Vermin would not deign to live in such a place if they had a sense of... cleanliness themselves. Cleanliness. Even a world so devoid of the technology should have enough sense to clean its streets once in awhile, whether it be a dome or not. A new world can have the sense of a new beginning. This place is filled with people with a sense of desperation about them. Fear? Not anything worthwhile."
[He picks up the wine glass and pauses, swirling it a bit before taking a sip.]
A feeling that I unfortunately still feel; progress has been made, of course, but we are still far from from our goal. If I was an immigrant back home, I would have two more years to go; perhaps in two years, things will be as I hope them to be. [He smirks slightly, looking down into the glass for a moment.]
Thought of the day: Perhaps I should become a solipsist. "I think, therefore it is." [He takes another sip.]
"I believe that Vincent Law does not exist; therefore, he doesn't."
"I believe that the Newcomer Political Party will do it's job; therefore, it will."
"I believe that the phones will stop ringing with people looking to book their weddings at Lion's Gate, therefore, they will."
[He looks into the video feed, leaning forward as his eyes narrow slightly.]
I believe that the man who poisoned Re-l Mayer will be caught; therefore, he will be.
[Raul leans back in his seat after a few silent moments with a small smirk, and he raises his glass slightly.]
Here is to the one year anniversary of my arrival here in the Port; and here is to another of what will hopefully be a prosperous year.
