baby's first plot(ish)

Hi guys!

I thought it was about time Chane's Core-given ability started to develop, and since she's-- you guessed it-- a telepath (of sorts), I was wondering if anybody would be interested in a mini-plot? There's a long-winded description of the details on her updated permissions post but for brief summary/plot details, see the cut below.

The short version is: her power is telepathy and imprinting. Anybody familiar with The World Ends With You might recognise imprinting (although she won't be doing memes, don't worry!), and it's somewhat similar to telepathy.

While telepathy is communicating a thought or speech to another person via their mind, imprinting is subtly implanting a thought, idea or suggestion into another person's mind in their own reader voice, so that it seems like it could be their own thoughts and thus, theirs, so they're more likely to go along with that idea. In canon, she also seems to be able to receive scenarios and other senses via telepathy, so not only will she be able to imprint/send thoughts, but she can receive very strong scenarios (such as 12second_orz's drug-induced delusion in his latest post) mentally and send them, if the feeling is strong enough.

Since this power just got triggered, she'll have a lot of trouble controlling what thoughts she's sending to people, which people she sends them to and when, and even details like whether the thoughts are in her own voice and allow the recipient to reply in the same way (like telepathy) or voiceless and one-way (imprinting). Chane does have a canon voice but obviously nobody in SP (other than Huey) will have heard it. Meaning that even if she does send a thought to somebody she knows, they may not recognise that it's from her immediately. It's impossible to know her name/face from what thoughts she sends unless you already know her.

Once she gets the hang of it she'll be able to control whether she allows the other person to reply, using her voice, etc. but for now, IT'S HAYWIRE. She might pass by you in the street and you'll hear a thought! Crazy stuff! It's very embarassing. She can't control the distance over which she sends these thoughts but for now, she won't be able to reach further than one sector from her present location, so play around with that.

Anyway, here are a list of thoughts/scenarios/emotions that she will be randomly, accidentally sending out over the next week or so, and if anybody wants to pick up on them, drop a comment here and I will randomly assign you a number! The times/locations for each one is already set, but the day of the week is up to you. The timespan will be the 1st of October to the 8th. Once I've given you a number feel free to choose a day, let me know. :)

1. a thought. --Sector 6, evening. 'I'm lost.' -- Claire Stanfield vinovidivici

2. a feeling. -- Sector 6, late night. Intense fear and panic. Claire Stanfield vinovidivici

3. a feeling -- Sector 9, early afternoon. A very warm, tender sense of happiness.

4. a scene-- Sector 4, early morning. the scene is the recipient standing atop the roof of a steam-train racing along the tracks in the middle of the night, almost pitch-black. The wind is incredibly strong and bites at your skin; there's a knife in your hand and your fingers ache from carving a message into the metal of the train. The train passes over a bridge and after a second of gut-wrenching fear and hesitation, you leap off, and hit the surface of the ice-cold river at the bottom. -- Katsuragi Yako topslug

5. a thought -- Sector 9, late afternoon. 'I had fun today' -- Shiroe Rei Seki zealouspeter

6. a scene-- Sector 4, dawn. Standing in a grassy, beautifully sunny meadow. A man stands near you, holding your hand; since he's much taller than you, you assume you are a child. He speaks but you don't hear what he says, and once the wind picks up, the scene ends. -- Gilbert Nightray retraced

7. a person's image.-- Sector 2, morning. (random NPC) short, stocky young man, shaved head, a scar along his neck, in the cashier uniform of one of the local convenience stores. He is running down an alleyway. -- Menolly Harper menolly_harper

8. a thought.-- Sector 8, midday. 'Please keep smiling.'

9. a feeling.-- Sector 9, early evening. Missing your friends so much you could cry just imagining their faces. -- Xemnas not_obsess3d
