[She hadn't been here in the port when they did a masquerade ball last year, but in looking over through the past news that anyone could access, Snow knew that when something fun like this came along, she should always take as many shots at it that she could.

It was a little like the Homelands Ball. Find a dress. Find a date. Go and donate money. The only problem Snow had with all that was finding a date; in all her years as Mayoral Aide, in all her time of running Fabletown, and even all of her time spent in the port, working towards a new news network... She'd never gotten a date. None that counted, in any case.

Maybe she might get someone who'd like to have a little fun tonight; her dress fit her perfectly, her hair pulled halfway up with tendrils hanging down around her mask.

She was ready for some wine and dancing, and right now she started with the wine, holding a glass while she made her way through the crowds.]

[Perhaps you can notice him before he really approaches, because he's making quite a show of slowly, slowly creeping up to where she is. Hiding behind other people and plants and other obstacles, peering out, sneaking closer.

At last, he stands behind her and clears his throat.]

Evening, madame!

[She'd seen him skulking about, but she didn't think it had anything to do with her. She was busying talking to someone, giving a small wave goodbye once they finished, and so when someone cleared their throat behind her, she couldn't help but jump a little.]

Oh... good evening. You startled me, how long have you been standing there?

[His own mask is simple black affair; his costume that of Robin Hood, all dark green tunic and brown vest. Motorcycle boots (why buy new ones when he can simply wear his regular ones?) complete the outfit. He looks a bit bored as he wanders around, sipping at wine-- but once he catches sight of her he grins and waves.]

Oye-- oye, Snow!

[Robin Hood was waving at her; she'd never met the man, but Boy Blue had spoken highly of him, when he told her the story of his demise. She smiled, waving back as she walked over.]

You're looking really nice tonight, Jack.

Yeah, you too. What're you-- or's it just a dress?

Just a dress, though I guess I could always say I'm the element of gold. [She laughs.]

Besides, I thought Halloween was the 31st.

[He snorts.]

It's the season, though! Dress up as somethin' interestin'-- I mean, you'd never do this sorta thin' in the spring, would you?

No, you wouldn't do this in the spring. Unless someone decided to throw a masquerade in the spring, then people would be happy to just get the chance to dress nicely.

But I like Halloween. It makes everything a little bit more spooky.

Hey -- I love your mask.

[ Elaine greets Snow, after leaving another group of guests to approach her. She meant the compliment. The mask and the gown were exquisite. ]

I'm glad you came.

Thank you! [Snow grinned, setting her glass to the side.]

I love your costume, too. It's gorgeous, you stand out in a crowd. [Nods.] I'm glad I came, too.

It's not my usual style. But have you looked at Morpheus? I would appear like a prat if I show up with a cocktail dress and a black feathered mask.

[She grinned back. Understatement of the year.]

No complains?

I did see him, when I came in. He's good, I'd like to know where he got that costume.

[She laughs at that, clearly joking. Some people here... well, maybe they weren't really people.]

No complaints at all. Everything is perfect, here.

We have very special tailors.

[Themselves.]

Okay, I'm glad to hear that. I want you and everyone else to have fun for a night.

The mark of a good hostess is when she's too worried about the other people having fun at her party.

[she grins.] Try to relax. It's going great.

I'm always worried. Even when I look relaxed.

I hope so.
