EMP: EVENT START - reaction and mingling log

When: Night of the 7th.
Where: All over the Port.
Summary: The EMP event has begun. There are no sirens. What will your character do?

The day is creeping closed, and the sun is dipping toward the horizon, beginning to cast long shadows across the city. Few people will actually see the sun set, the Darkness chasing them inside before they can. Tonight anticipation hangs heavy in the air, and those sensitive to energy waves, magnetics, electricity will feel - just briefly - a wall of it pass through them, stronger depending on how close to the epicenter in Sector 3 you are.
Where the EMP passes, lights go out, music stops, power goes down. All battery powered devices and NVs cease to function. Clockwork still ticks on, rebellious to the power of the pulse. Trains stop running.
Ten seconds later, the backup generator at the hospital buzzes back to life, sole spots of light in the ever coming Darkness. People who aren't paying attention meander home, unaware of the danger that lurks around the corner. Windows left open let in tendrils of black, unnoticed by those making their routine Darkness preparations, filling pans with water, magnetising the letterbox.
The sirens don't sound; there's no warning, no call from the city--Siren's Port is silent.
Until the screams.
